My Satellite Setup
Sky dish on Freesat and Aerial on Freeview .both piped down to lounge TV and Bed 1 and a Sat cable to Bed 2 .

Skelton , Saltburn-by-the-Sea Yorkshire
Would anyone know if you have to have a different dish set up for using a Sky Q box as to a Sky HD+.
My Sky HD+ box works fine, but got a Sky Q box from daughter and it does not receive a signal, it is only on a single LNB, have a double LNB on dish but use one each for upstairs and lounge, don't need to record programs .

Sky Q requires a different kind of LNB. However as far as I'm aware all Sky Q kit has to be returned to Sky once the subscription ends. All Sky Q boxes were loaned from Sky and not owned by the subscriber.

Hi
Thanks for your reply, yes I think that has always been the case , I don't think you can buy them of the likes of ebay, but mine was given to by my daughter , they have moved and dont want a dish sticking on the side of the house, so they get all there tv etc through EE .
Anyway the only reason I said I would have it, is that the sound on my HD+ box is terrible .
cheers

What you'll be charged
The charge depends on what equipment you haven’t returned to us:
  • Sky Q 1TB box - £115
  • Sky Q 2TB box - £135
  • Sky Q Mini box - £50
  • Sky Q Hub/Sky Broadband Hub - £50
  • Sky Broadband Booster - £35
You’ll be charged for every piece of equipment you don't return. For example, if you didn't return a Sky Q 2TB box, two Sky Q Mini boxes and a Sky Q Hub, you would be charged £270 in total.

If the subscription is still being paid then you'll need a Sky hybrid LNB, which has the two wideband outputs required for Sky Q, and two or four 'legacy' outputs for non-Q receivers.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

And a second cable from the dish to the receiver.

Better to borrow another Sky HD box to see if it is a fault on the one you have.

Yup as above posters, your best solving the sound issue on the Sky HD box rather than try Sky Q.

What is the issue? Are you using an amp or is it the TVs inbuilt sound thus via the HDMI cable?
