I may have asked this before, but a client has a 50" Sony TV on the wall which has a daft logo lump underneath the screen.
One side has dropped and whilst I have had a good look behind, there appears to be no way this can be realigned horizontally without dismantling the screen completely and finding out which catch or screw has broken away from the support.

Does anyone know how these are attached and if it is a common fault that can be fixed without too much effort ?

Thanks in advance

I don't know how it's fixed from looking at the pic, but it seems to me that it was simply "glued" in-place with some sort of adhesive - why would anyone "bother" to use a mechanical fixing for something so small and light, and with no "functionality"?

Is it at all "loose" on the screen? If so, you could probably "glue" it back in-place.

I've tried looking under the gap and yes, there is no screw fitting that has come loose, absolutely no clue underneath either. Ive also tried prising the other end down just in case it has been dropped on that side and is higher than normal.

Most likely there is a bracket at the rear that clamps the thing together to the back of the screen, but this is behind the back panel.

There is also a chance the IR sensor is inside, and so I don't want to remove it to find out there is a whole circuit board and connection, not before I have some idea of the build.

So a service manual is the next thing unless somebody here knows the model and how it all fits together.

Looks like a Sony W905, I've seen the logo thing being referred to as the "Intelligent Core". Seems like it lights up depending on the input selected.

Given the above, which does appear to be "important", would it still be possible to "twist" the block upwards and "glue" it back into place - after all, "some force or other" must have caused the downward displacement in the first place, and thus maybe a somewhat stronger one might have the desired effect to push it back up again... ???

A bit more than that, it's called the 'intelligent (or smart) core'.

I dont think I'll be going near it.
