hi guys

i have an unused 18" actuator - which i intend to use on my 1.8m CM - however, i do wonder if this be man enough for the job, or should the heavy duty version be used with such a dish size and weight...?

i only ask, because theres a chance i might be able to swap it and pay a bit extra for the heavy duty version.

thanks

I suppose it depends on the manufacturers interpretation of heavy duty and what type of extension/retraction mechanism the actuator provides?

The original SuperJack actuators came in HARL (standard) and QARL (heavy duty) versions.
There was also a short stroke SuperJack optical switch version. However, without looking it up I am unsure how the optical switch version was categorised.

For an actuator manufacturer such as Venture, they sell the acme thread models as standard duty and the ball screw models as heavy duty.
I don't know if this is the same classification used by Superjack.

For the Chinese clones such as Super Power Jack I am not sure how much reliance can be placed on anything described as heavy duty.
If you have a genuine "new old stock" SuperJack HARL actuator, I am not sure if there would be any benefit in swapping it for a Chinese clone described as heavy duty?

The SuperJack picture you uploaded suggests it is a genuine model.

Super Power Jack are the clones that have been reported as not lasting very long.
Personally, I would not fit the Super Power Jack to your 1.8m Channel Master setup.

If you have the option to exchange the SuperJack HARL3618 for the QARL3618 or QARL3624 model with an extra payment it wont do any harm.
