My wife and I, when looking for our first house that was affordable to us, went to a village now swallowed up by Blackburn called Guide. We viewed a stone-built end-terraced house. It was an odd triangular shape as a track ran down the side cutting off one corner. Downstairs was pretty grim but could have been made livable. Upstairs were just two bedrooms one of which led into the bathroom at the back of the house. We laughed upon entering the back bedroom as someone had removed the bath from the bathroom off the bedroom and placed it in the middle of the room. It was there to catch the drips from the leaky roof, but as we walked towards it we realized we were walking downhill, by the time we reached the door to the bathroom we were a good eight or ten inches lower down. The floor was at an angle and we never stayed long enough to bother finding out why.
