In the course of 2021, Swiss public broadcaster SRG plans to migrate the DTH satellite broadcast of its TV channels on Eutelsat Hotbird (13° East) to HEVC/H.265 in preparation for the introduction of Ultra HD.

According to SRG, the move is part of its ‘UHD-Ready’ strategy to further enhance the technical picture quality.

I wonder if this will also mean they go from 720p to 1080p at the same time.

That's what happened in Germany when DVB-T2 started on terrestrial with all the ARD and ZDF channels going 1080p in HEVC (even though the picture is still just upscaled 720p!)
