Various L, S, C, X & Ka bits. 1.2m S/X/Ku/Ka Prodelin on Az-El (being refurbished), 1.8m Precision PF with Bullseye Ku LNB or various C & X bits

Beacons seen on 11704.6MHz and 11452.7MHz. The polarisation is difficult to determine. It appears to be linear but there was no clear null. The craft may be rotating still as the polarisation and amplitude varies.

Plots centred on a 21.4MHz IF.

No idea, however, this satellite is listed as being for high data rate comms so maybe not much TV.

The TLE on N2YO are not correct now, I guess that there has been a burn, probably yesterday afternoon. The beacons are supposed to be circular but I can get a 30dB null using linear skew. I have to keep adjusting the skew to keep out of the nulls suggesting it is rolling.

The nominal frequencies are 11452.6 and 11704.5MHz (Thanks to Capitan_Uncino). Doppler shifted them up at the time of these plots:

Turksat 5B has arrived yesterday at what appears to be a 42.2°E testing location, according TLEs.
Probably the Ku-band transponders will not be tested here except 10.7...10.95 GHz maybe (not on the other 2 Turksats).
But there should be X, extended-Ku, and Ka-band transponders too.

If I'm not mistaken, it looks like we have a beacon activated on 10704 H(!?)

Documented beacons at 11452.6 & 11704.5 are showing at the moment - nothing to report or seen yet on extended Ku 13.4 - 13.65 GHz
No sign of 11704 here at the moment in Central UK.

Quick look, the beacons on 11452.6 & 11704.5 definitely look like they have circular polarisation now. I can't get any nulls tweaking the skew.

Nothing seen on 10704 and nothing on nearby satellites close to that frequency.

Still nothing on upper extended Ku either as yet -

I have a Ku circular poloriser now - 5B has now settled down to the point where it might soon be able to produce reliable downlink polarities on the beacons so i will do a temp Circular Pol lash up on a dish asap to try and establish the polarity of the three beacons

The Ku polariser looks like it has internal steps, interesting.

Where did this little gem surface from, I could do wiv wan o' these bad boys for 36.0E and 56.0E.
I am a few dB below a lock using an SMW Ku polariser with dielectric plate, this stepped jobbie might get me over the line.

Ok, which of the two sats 36e & 56e were you getting the best reported circular sigs from ? - i'm only on my 1.2 Gibby and there is no sign at all of the circ sigs from the 'Eastern' or 'Russia' beams which is to be expected really.

As of this afternoon, using the circular poloriser frequency 11452.60 was LHC and stable, 11703.50 Not seen. 11704.50 was RHC and stable.

@John

I was closest to a lock on 36.0E.

For 56.0E I would need a jump of nearly 4db to get a lock and I dont think a stepped polo pipe vs a dielectric plate would give me that much.
However, for 56.0E I am probably at the extreme end of my visible arc and could be getting line of sight issues. My low signals might be from line of sight rather than plain weak signals?

Although the South seems favoured for fringe stuff on the MENA beams, I think the North has the edge on the Russian fringe beams, but it might be expecting a lot from a 1.2m dish?
Good luck and happy hunting if you have a go.

I have attached below a screen grab from the Promax on the circular polarity frequency of 12149 L of 36.0 East with an SMW XD12 Ku polariser in line between the C120 waveguide and the Invacom LNB.
Although Lyngsat lists the frequency as needing 7.9dB for a lock I am not locking it with a satellite receiver even though the Promax shows a level of 9.0dB.

Very helpful MB thanks - I only used the 1.2Gibby as a temp test bed to establish the correct polarities of the Turksat 5B beacons because it was the easiest to get going the quickest. It would have been a pain to retro fit something on the 2.2 so i didn't bother. To confirm that the found 5B beacon polarities were correct at the time of checking i cross checked with documented circular pol beacons from 53East & 54.9East and everything checked out ok.

I have my original Channelmaster feedhorn with a groove for a dielectric slab. I will attach an Inverto Pro LNB and see what happens here.

It's handy to try the known circ pol beacons on 53East & 54.9East first Simon to reassure yourself that your feed plate & Promax rx settings results are all correct - look forward to your results, Promax screen grabs as well if you can :Y .
** Edit - or are you talking about the Russian / East beam programs signal reception ?.

Unfortunately 52E is my absolute limit to the East. Further satellites are blocked by a hedge. I will look for Turksat 5B beacons and possible Russian sigs at 36E.

@42E I have found both beacons for Turksat 5B. 11452.45 and 11704.45. They are both circularly polarised. I think the lower one is RHC and the other LHC. Nothing found of any interest at 36E with those Russian sigs. Here in the west of the UK I get more from the South Africa linear sigs at 36E.

Shame you can't see the two birds at 53 or 54.9 East Simon with the documented Circ pol's on the beacons as they are ideal for doing a cross reference against what you find on your set-up. I'll / you have a look for a confirmed documented Circ pol (not the particular ones listed as circ or Linear) on any of the other sats that are in your reach - reason i say this is i have the two beacons opposite to what you say

Can you see 45 East AzerSpace/Int 38 , beacon 11703.00 RHC, or 46 East beacon 10950.10 LHC to get a reference Simon
Also on 45 East 12747.00 RHC
