WANTED

Technomate TM-TWIN 4K

I know there are beter receivers out there, but I am used to the menu : )

I had one of the early TM receivers and now have a TM-5402HD M3 C1 Super+.

It is fine and I intend keeping it, but it does not have 4K.

The AMIKO Viper 4k I use just for 4k works fine, but the navigation drives me round the bend LOL

So once I have a TM-TWIN 4K, the Viper will most likely be sold.

Besides new toys are good : )

Thank you for the pointer Scopus.

They are at a lower price £189 inc carrage at the satellitetvshop.

I was looking for a good used one, somewhat lower than that in price : )

Just to check, are you saying you know the TM-TWIN 4k's menus, or that you are used to the menus on your 5402? Being Enigma based I'd expect the TM-TWIN 4K's menus to be more like the Viper than the 5402.

Thank you Ozumo, that I did not know : )

As the TM-5402HYD C1+ SUPER+ menu is similar to the MK3, I had assumed the 4K version would be the same.

So the TM 4K is going to be completely different ?

Can anyone who has had the MK3 and the 4K Technomate confirm this for me ?

I know little to nothing about Enigma or other systems and their differences : )

There are various versions to download for the Viper.

Having now read more online Ozumo, you are correct, it is different and not easy to use from feed back.

So sadly not a good idea on my part.

I have found Technomate receivers easy to navigate, that may be the case, or perhaps it is just my familiarity with them ?

Yes the older non-linux Technomate receivers are easy to use. The operating systems of Enigma receivers are all like the Viper. While they have their plus points I'm not a fan either.

One option could be the Octagon SF8008, while it is an Enigma reeiver, you can install the Define image (It may also come pre-installed) and have it operate like an Octagon SX88+ but with 4K & low symbol rate capability. The menus are then easy use however you can't define a specific frequency range to scan, it scans the whole band no matter what.

The actual SX88 4K receiver has a few niggles e.g. MPEG4 4K channels. The low symbol rate performance isn't as good, which is why the SF8008 is the better option IMO and doesn't cost much more.
