Well I must be about 2600km from the centre of the footprint. I'm using a Gibertini 1.5 and an Inverto Black Ultra. It's raining too. Transponder is very visible on the spectrum but I'm not able to get lock. My guess under current conditions would be 2.4 - 3.0m dish required. I'll report back when some verticals show up.

My Satellite Setup
motorized Gibertini 85cm, fixed dishes from 1m to 64cm, generic FTA HD RX, TBS DVB-S2 PC card, a pile of bits and pieces
My Location
Hadrians Wall
The signal here is the same as the Thor 5 T1 beam, but the quality is 6% lower despite the FEC being the same at 7/8. That suggests it may go under in rain. My motor is a bit noisy so I expect that it should be received on a properly aligned 65cm, though just above threshold. Remember this K1 beam, like the T1 beam, is intended to serve Iceland, so the signal should be good here.

I just wish they would show a clear test card.

Perhaps they will show one later, on the channel labeled "DVB Sub Test".

From the coordinates, Huevos, you are receiving near Alicante? Can you already get T1 on a 1.5m? If so, it would be a good catch.

It is strange that they have not improved the signal to Iceland.

According to the footprint maps, both T1 and K1 are only 45dBW in the inhabited parts of Iceland. Astra 2D is 50-51dBW over the same region!

RUV are broadcasting television and radio from Intelsat 10-02 at 47dBW and also radio from Thor 5 T1, yet not the more useful T2. Perhaps they can't afford the T2 carriage costs?

Does anyone know why this is?

It seems odd that the K1 beam does not have at least a 51dBW hot spot over Iceland. There are a lot of footprints out there with two main hot spots, or with an additional spot for the Canary Islands.

Something amiss here - although 10808 was booming in the other day, neither it nor 10841 are showing any signal now!

Are they currently off air, or do I need to go out in the drizzle and kick my dish?

Hmm, it's them, not me!

Just monitoring all the new TPs and they are fa**ing about with Polarity and the carrier keeps switching on and off.

Note to self: Patience

(Perhaps they are waiting until Vipersan is ready to play?)
