You could send it by Collect+ with insurance for upto £300 for under £10. I've used Collect+ many times to send receivers around the country and not one of them have arrived damaged. If i recall they use Yodel to collect and deliver the item.

You just wrap the item up securely, pay online and then drop it off at a drop off point where you are given a receipt.

Its an easy solution and you are not limited to the times the post office are open as most drop of points are open until 10pm most nights.

Forget that i've just noticed your in Ireland

I'll leave it up though as it should be a useful thing for others in the UK to know about

I only used Collect+ once and it was rubbish (as is Hermes). My item was stuck in a local depot for 2 weeks without the option to collect it myself! Never again...
