I recently connected my Sony TV sat tuner to the loop through on the TM5402. Did this as the direct connection of the satellite cable to the TV was not picking up any channels. A partial success in that the TV immediately scanned in channels from Astra 28east.

My problem is that after making connection, the Technomate lost all audio. I swapped Hdmi cables but that made no difference. I also made the audio connection from the sat rx with optical cable. Still no audio. Otherwise the Tv audio is working fine. Can someone advise me what to do to get audio back on the sat rx?

I'd also be interested in anyviews on why connecting the Sony via the loop through provided sat channels on the Tv, while connecting the sat cable direct to the Tv tuner did not work at all.

Aplogies for a long first post.

I recall the TM had a 'PCM' setting within the A/V menu that did not give audio on any output when selected.

Thanks but I've selected audio through Hdmi but get none at all. Same result if I try to output audio via optical cable. I've put the setting back to audio via Hdmi which was where it was before I lost all audio.

I'm assuming that connecting my tv to the technomate loop through may have caused this loss of audio although I don't understand why!

Next stage is carry out a full / master reset and start again.

Remove all devices from the electricity for at least 20 seconds.

I've switched all appliances off and then back on again. Still no satellite rx audio.

Did you mean that or a factory reset?

Ok, many thanks for your help. I must admit to being a bit apprehensive. Do I need to do anything to ensure my that my motorised dish settings USALS, aren't lost?

Do you have any other HDMI devices you can use to check it's not the television at fault?

If the Technomate has analogue audio outputs you may be able to connect them to the TV and assign them to the HDMI input, as you did with optical.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!
If you do a Factory reset without saving the settings then you will certainly lose your USALS settings.

Roughly speaking (from memory!) you go into the Settings Menus, down to the bottom where you can load updates from, OR save sat list and some settings to, a USB memory stick (8GB size worked for me)

However, I can't remember IF that will also save the USALS settings, and therefore I'd be very inclined to go through your Sat list and carefully note the exact longitude and other settings for each sat (and also your "home" longitude & latitude settings).

Thanks, got that. I need to note down the exact satellite settings.

Has anyone an idea why this problem occurred? Any direct link with using the loop through connection to the Sony TV?

Also, but less important, why was the Sony TV only able to pick up satellite channels withe loop through connection but not with a direct connection from the satellite cable to the Lnb and dish? That puzzles me.

Many thanks for all help offered. I'll do the factory reset tomorrow.

Was the dish definitely pointing at 28E when you connected it to the television? Does the TV have motor or DiSEqC controls? It's also possible the LNB overloads the TV's tuner and looping it through the Technomate 'quietens' the signal enough for it to be able to tune. I have seen this before on a Freesat receiver.

Have you tried reconnecting the cable directly to the TV again now it is tuned?

Yes, done that now. I can't view the channels. I get a message that there is LNB overload

@jeallen01

The factory reset has restored audio via the HDMI cable. Many thanks for your help.

There is an oddity though. I used to connect the Technomate to the TV via a Denon AV receiver - and all worked well until the recent loss of sound.

Now if I connect the Technomate to the AV receiver there is still no sound. But if I connect the Technomate to one of the TV's HDMI ports the sound works.

The AV receiver's outputs work fine. I substituted the Bluray player in the same port as a test. So a bit puzzling.

Yep. I had the same issue with a rogue Audio setting on a new DVD Player.

@Hpavil go into the TM Audio settings and change PCM to summat else (trial and error).

If you ever want to connect the dish directly to the television you'll need an attenuator such as:
Code:
