KU Band 75cm and C Band 180cm with TBS6902 card

Hi, I'm living in Bangkok, Thailand and attempt to receive Superbird C2 NE Asia beam. Satbeam recommend me to pick up a 1.5m KU band dish at the footprint edge (80km from my location). But, my area is a little out of the footprint, so I think I will need 1.8m dish. Problem is, There's only 90cm KU band dish and 1.8m C-Band dish for sale here. Which one will gives me higher chance of success between attempting with 90cm KU band offset dish, or sticking KU Band LNB to 1.8m C band mesh dish?

Thanks!

My Satellite Setup
OpenBox X5 on a 1 meter motorized dish.
And now a 10 foot "C" band dish.

The only drawback with trying to use the "C" band dish on "Ku" band would be the mesh size of the dish, the bigger the mesh the worst the "Ku" band reception, if you could stick a standard lead pencil through the mesh of the dish it may be too big for good "Ku" band.

Can you check the specifications for the "C" band dish to see what the "Ku" band gain would be?

And if your outside the footprint then the bigger the dish the better, I use a 3 meter dish for both "C" and "Ku" bands.

What are you trying to receive? Lyngsat only lists 3 feeds on the NE Asia beam, and those reports are years out of date. Forget using a mesh C-band dish for Ku. The results are likely to be very disappointing.

I have no problems, in fact the reception on "Ku" band is about 20% better on my "C" band dish then on my 1 meter "Ku" band dish on the same satellite.

It depends on the spacing of the mesh. If the mesh spacing is too big much of the Ku signals will go straight through.

The feed I'm trying to receive is using 8PSK and 3/4 FEC. I managed to find good deal on 150cm used KU band offset dish, as I stated earlier, i'm about 80km from the edge of footprint (which they recommended 150cm dish). Is it worth trying with 150cm at my location, or should I forgot about it?

Many Thanks!

Why not ask one of your neighbours if you can spot a similar sized dish on their property ?

Most of my neighbours has 75cm KU band dish. It's hard to came across KU band dish larger than 90cm here.
