Hi all,

I bought a second hand 1m Gibertini dish with motor for £50 and the motor bracket was rusted (bought another & am trying to save the existing) but the bolts were properly rusted (had to snap two of them to remove) and one jaw was missing.

I am having trouble finding the square u-bolts (80mm/M8 and 94mm/M8) and appropriate lengths to replace them (M10 won't fit).
Can I used the u-bolts/v-bolts that are rounded/v at the end, or two M8 screws with nuts and a flat plate? Or would you advise again either due to structural necessity for my setup?

Every video I watch seems to have square U-bolts, so I wasnt sure if this was an important factor.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

Which motor design did you get with the dish anthrocite / dark motor , or light grey / Technomate ?

Assuming it is a Motek clone.

The clamps supplied with the lighter paintwork ones rust somewhat quicker from experience but if the dish was installed near the coast then neither has the correct anticorrosion properties.

It is the light grey Technomate 2600. One of the u-bolt arms has bent out of shape but I may be able to reuse it. I'm trying to bend it back into a more reusable shape.

The bolts for the dish mount which would attach to the Technomate are the ones which snapped entirely. Hopefully Hisat, as suggested earlier will be able to help. Otherwise I guess I'm trying the v bolts.

Thanks. No you didnt, did you! And your thread confused me more as to what direction I should be heading! Ha.

If the TM2600 and Darkmotor brackets are the same, then the ones you looked at were M10, so too thick. The u-bolt which is broken is definitely M8.
As for the diameter width, that's interesting. The diameter between the two arms of mine is 80mm...could be 1mm out, my old eyes are playing tricks on me....so 90mm would be too wide for mine.

I take it you will need nuts as well

Ha, that's the bunny! Good skills! I actually just found the second v jaw, which I obviously overlooked when I stuck it in my car and have just primed it with some rust paint as it was, erm, a little brown! When all sorted, I'll take some pictures and detail my journey as I'm finding some of the stuff I ask, isnt always easy to find, so perhaps I'll help others.

Nuts aren't a major issue as I have a 'nut and bolt' store down the road, which is a truly epic place. Amazing that they still exist in this online world. Sadly, no u-bolts in there and Technomate didnt even have any! I think I've straightened....ish, the motor u-bolt.....and I got an M8 wingnut on it, so I should be able to use the thread.

You watch, I'll set all this up and find the motor doesnt work! :D

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!

Just pointed to the M10 bolts because I already had the link - you will find M8 bolts simply by changing the search string in eBay to include M8 !!!!!

I almost forgot about the Trade Works website - here is the 1st page of the Bracketry & Masts section which may list something like what you need (and you could always ask if nothing suitable is listed there) Bracketry & Masts - Trade Works

It was more that should you need the threads/bolts or brackets, I have some here and can post out.
No requirement to order from somebody that supposedly 'retired' a few years back without paying their debts.

The clown still can't spell satellite so be careful, just another pretender to the crown.

That's incredibly kind of you, thanks Channel Hopper. I'll give it a go this week with the bits I have and get back to you if I find it's not working soundly. I also ordered some u-bolts for a car exhaust, which may solve the broken ones for the dish bracket....

That's hilarious and also (the best bit) brutal! I did some research on the company, or moreover, the person. I always find companies house an interesting place.

@doesitmatter I have some spare motors and parts, including U-bolts (some used, some new). If you do not succeed finding what you need, I could send you some.
