How to watch and photograph the International Space Station,

The ISS always approaches from a westerly direction and heads towards the east and can be spotted about 10 degrees or higher above the horizon, a typical pass lasts about 4 - 5 minutes. Very bright passes can soar straight above the observer and good photographic passes are lower/ closer to the southern horizon.

Thanks for that.

Seen it many times over the years and luckily we nearly have all year round cloudless skies so is very easy to see and follow using binoculars.

http://www.heavens-above.com show the following timetable and visual view.

Seen it pass over 20 mins ago yet again, a fine sight, along with Mars and a low rising Moon.

Yes the moon is not bad at all
and yes I saw it too indeed I did try a photo on 48x zoom but cannot really say it is anything recognisable

I have just started to lose it at my location without going outside from my back window, not a cloud in sight, I will be able to pick it up from my front window shortly :).

So ..a close pass about 9pm tonight ..
I am currently staring out of my back bedroom window
(the playroom) the window looks due South more or less and I'm one floor up ..
I have a view which looks over some bungalows ..and a few trees in the distance ..
What angle elevation should I expect to see the pass here in Manchester (53.5N 2.4W) ...
Do I have a realistic chance ??
some thin high cloud and darkening quickly now.

Pretty sure she just passed but had trouble focusing the bins ,,
Appeared to be flashing ..err red.white,,
Could have been a plane I guess

Always a problem being so close to the airport and lots of light pollution.

I cant even track it with my telescope, it moves so fast, theres no chance putting my canon on the end of it for a shot.

We had 50% cloud cover but got half a sky eastwards to the low horizon.
