The next option is satellite internet, SES/Astra, Tooway, Avanti or SkyDSL. I know this is not exactly what this forum is about, but does anybody have info or comments on the subject.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

To stream content via a dedicated satellite broadband service would be prohibitively expensive.

Do you have relatives in this region that might act as one half of a slingbox link ?

No I'm out on limb here, as I said earlier, I can download the soaps, dramas and films etc, early morning, late evening or even overnight, but I do like my rugby and watching it via online steaming on a remote village network is sometimes frustrating as obviously the bandwidth is limited.

If rugby is your main goal (sic) then paying for any service in the current environment is going to be a shortlived, fruitless exercise.

You are correct, at the moment there is very little, if, any, live sport. I am looking for a long term solution for reception in a small, fairly remote village in NE Bulgaria. I appreciate that there are many FTA channels that cover sport, France 2 covers the Six Nations rugby, but again I seem to be outside the footprint of Eutelsat 5WB, So it looks like there is going to be a lot of trial and error, starting with a 1.2m or 1.5m dish and a H2H motor. I will post my progress anon.

@GlynF,I don't like to give advice, but if you still want to get reception from those satellites, then I'd recommend installing/purchasing the antenna at least of 2m for your area,if possible 2.50m.What I'm telling you now is valid if your wallet and physical conditions allow you to install a large antenna.I don't have to point out the advantage of such an antenna.
If there is a tendency for TV providers to restrict their reception area for television packages only to their area, as happened at 5.0W,then large antennas are mandatory even for TV consumers, and not just for dxers. The larger the antenna, the greater the freedom to access media sources.

France 2 covers the Six Nations rugby, but again I seem to be outside the footprint of Eutelsat 5WB
TNT receiver, astra 19e, will fix that.

1.8 \ 2m is what I'd ideally use to get everything guaranteed stable (and somewhat futureproof) in south france \ west norway. Bulgaria is far away from that, would think best to not spend money before one knows a lot more. Even if some stray lobes, there are the nullpoints that can be anywhere. Contact the (non-existant) local dish rental shop and do some tests...
