can you still get a DISEQ motor that points upwards instead of down - clearance might be an issue when i go down the 1.2m route....

Stab motors are rubbish. I had one that failed and Hisat spewed out complete bull. If you get one get it from a well respected company who will backup the warranty without loads of excuses.

Think I've got one of those in the garage. It came with the s/h TD88 in the early 2000's, but I never used/tried it because I had changed to DiSEqC by the time I got back into sat stuff in around 2015 - could post (it's heavy!) at cost or you could collect (West London) which I would prefer, plus a very few quid (you know, for the storage! :D).

a Gibby 1.2 actually - and if I got one , its a clearance issue, it has to clear a kitchen extension roof....when dish goes to 30e onwards, the lnb gets close to ther roof tiles as it turns - im at the limit of the pole on the 3 T and Ks...

Mount a downwards pointing motor upside down and either set each satellite position to the opposite direction (so 13e becomes 13w) or set the USALS latitude to south instead of north. I think that might work? How long the motor will last is another question. Or clamp a second pole to main one to increase the height & give a bit more clearance.

Ahhh...makes sense. Was going to say you can get a Gibby on a downward :)

So, the dish would be facing the roof?

current dish TD110, and pole and motor are above the gutter line of kitchen extension roof - this is currently fine - however, if i get a 1.2m - im thiking the extra size will give me problems when going far east (only) as the kitchen roof is angled up at the point the dish starts to twist for east sats...an upwards motor would sort me right out, there doesnt seem to be many about.

Be easier to change the pole to 1 a bit longer.

thanks, its long enough, traversing 3 t and k brackets...but yes, i could move the bottom bracket up a bit to be fair, and then raise the pole (scaffold pole). good shout.

If it is just the LNB and arm, and not the dish itself, that needs more space; then mounting the dish upside down might also be an option?

Such as here, picture from trust: Usals problem & alignment - SatsUK
(with the 'elbow' in the rotation axis rotated 180 degrees in the picture, that might or might not be needed.)

However, the bottom of the dish then is farther away from the pole, and that might interfere also with the kitchen roof?
A lot depends on the 'height' of the bracket on the backside of the dish, and your specific situation.

I think at this point a few photos of your set up would help us give advice..

i should be ok - its when \ if i get a 1.2m that i'll have an issue, but i'll just move the bottom bracket up a bit, and raise the pole.
