My superjack vbox II remote stopped working after 18 months, and now looking for a replacement remote.

Anyone no longer using his vbox willing to sell the remote?

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

Have you taken it apart (drop onto wooden floor from 1.5m)

and cleaned the internal rubber pads and carbon tracks underneath ?

^^^^ or thrown at you by your second wife.

That's how I discovered how to avoid all that uncertainty about where the retaining tabs might be.

Done. It was enough to ask my landlady if she wanted to crush my head a little bit with the remote...

Everything was really clean. Just 18 months of life, never opened before, etc. But I found some kind of rubbish on the upper right part (no idea where it came from, as the signal hole in the the middle). Cleaned that a bit with my nails and... it is working again! Thank you mate.

Really appreciated! Let's see how long it will last, but not needed yet :)

Well, it only lasted for one day! It is not working today again. Nothing else to clean inside... so I guess there must be some other problem with this remote.
Good job because i couldn't find it :-lmao

Found the v-box but no remote :-doh

If by any chance it appears, let me know!! I found one in a german shop, but with crazy delivery costs in the end it is around 30 pounds. Too painful for such a prehistoric remote.

Check for dry joints. Probably what is causing it.

Also, check if it's the remote that's at fault - point the transmitting end at a camera and you should see the IR light pulsing if it's sending anything.

Sorry, what are dry joints?

I truly think it is the remote, because it actually worked again after touching it a bit the other day. When I look at the transmitting end with my eyes, nothing happens when I press buttons (there is light in other remotes of the same kind, like the azbox one). But didn't understand what you meant with pointing it "at a camera"

Dry joints are hairline cracks around solder points which cause intermittent connections. A blob of fresh solder on them will fix it.
