Will sky ever allow two skyq boxes on one property ?

One house (more a mansion) with rather thick walls.

I know there are boosters that Sky will fit to get the single box to talk to the remote minis, but since the client already has a dish running to three points with an Octo upstairs, it would make sense to change this to a SkyQ LNB and two splitters.

So has anyne had a dual Sky Q system fitted and if so, what are the disadvantages apart from two potential contracts ?

Don't think they'll allow it, just use hard wiring and homeplugs.

Thanks, that is what I thought, for some reason one of my clients is being asked to replace two sets of cable in the property before they will change over to SkyQ.

I've been over and the signals at all points are fine however it is all WF65, keeping the outside looking tidy. The nearest outlet room to the dish is where the main box will go, so I assume all that may be required beyond the mini box(es) will be a wifi booster or two.

If Sky's own extenders can't cut it will other devices (eg Linksys ) be compatible with the new setup ?

Use homeplugs, then no Wifi issue.

Somewhere in England (possibly?)!

Thick walls => old house => "questionable" quality power wiring => possibly "less than fast/reliable" PLC??

PS: from recent (and very "trying" with multiple "experiments" with quite a few add-ons to the basic "starter" kit" :( )"experience" in trying to set up PLC comms (using TP-Link "generation 8" kit) in this 1920's/30's house (and in which I have, over the years, made signicant changes to the wiring system), prior to the installation of PoE CCTV in a couple of weeks or so: I advise using exactly the same brand and model of PLC plug-in adapters throughout the system - and switch off any "power saving" features on every adapter or else one or other of those may drop off the system :(

OTOH, the issues now seem to be resolved and the system seems to be working well with stable 3-way comms between the adapters in the lounge (the link to the house Cat 5E system), the one in the conservatory, and the one in the attic.

PS: and some PLC adapters use WiFi at one end of the system or another.

Would 2012 Homeplug technology cope with outputting continuous 4K to a Q minibox , even in free space ?

Don't know but I suspect that 2012 generation data rates might not be high enough -> update the existing PLC system.

PS: and make sure that the (updated?) PLC system is working reliably and stably before trying to use it for the Q system as well - also, consider how heavily the system is/will be used by other equipment, such as for internet/streaming traffic.

My job has been to upgrade the outdoor equipment, (which was working fine on the HD boxes btw), they now have a Sky Q hybrid up there, the client has 96 hours or so to watch everything on the existing boxes before it allo goes off.

I'm not going to dabble with the new kit inside until Sky have had a go.

Q Minis are NOT 4K (only HD) - only the main Q box is 4K. So the Homeplug requirement is for HD only
