80cm motorised Inverto dish with Dark Motor full metal gears, Xtrend 9500HD, Amiko Alien 2+, Amiko Alien 8900, Moded Zone 2 dish with multi LNB goodness! 50 inch full HD LCD and loads of other stuff! lol

Glasgow,ish!
I've done the same both with my Wetek Play and a Samsung TV with a built-in DVB-C tuner at my parents' house (they can get cable in a town of ~15,000 people whereas here in Worcester with ~100,000 the entire city has never been covered by Virgin or its predecessors at all!)

BBC One, BBC Two, ITV, C4, C5 and I think a couple of random ones like ITV3+1 (but not ITV3) are FTA on the network, and everything else is encrypted.

I seem to remember at one point (in the days where it was widely pirated before the encryption updates), there was one FTA channel with some kind of amnesty notice telling anyone that could see that channel that their dodgy box would stop working soon and to subscribe legitimately!

Yeah your spot on I think, you get a +1 version of a channel you don't get lol, I'm not sure we get STV (Our awful ITV region) here, that's only a good thing! Its absolutely cringe TV.

Not disimilar, but in Sweden it was possible to view all the hotel subsciption channels using the inverter circuit provided by the spectrum analyser.

Thanks for creating a cable section, i'll promote it in our thread.

Hopefully some will take a look, so i'll create a couple of threads.

If DS does close the technical parts or even altogether, it's nice to know we have somewhere to go :)

Jimbo who runs the Weekly Satellite thread has said that he is a member of this forum already and may move it here should DS close.

His thread seems to attract a fair amount of traffic too.

It's not exclusively Sky, the full thread title is 'Sky & Satellite Weekly News'.

Lol, well anyone would think that DS was a technically focussed website, but it's now celebrity/showbiz/gossip rubbish

It was a good little technical site way back when. The mods all used their own nicks so were accountable & were respected by the members. Then the site got bigger & bigger, and the celeb focussed trash took over. Its no wonder so many of the old regulars have jumped ship. Theoretically my old account is still active although I wont be using it again.

Quite simple really, I dared to question the reasoning for someone who I liked there being banned, and I got banned for it too, so around that time I had signed up for this forum, and they decided to keep me banned (because I pointed it out that I was unfairly banned for asking a legitimate question), so as a result I was perma-banned... :)

Didn't do anything wrong, at least not in any democratic sense, but questioning those with powers over there meant the ban hammer fell all too often...

Never went back cos there's far better places to be... :)

Well, far from ceasing Forum Operations, DS are currently replacing the Forum platform to bring it up to date and allow more features and enhanced functionality

Digital Spy Forums - Announcements in Forum : Freesat

And there's a bad-boys amnesty ..... perhaps we should all troop back!

Looks like they're catching up with our forum for functionality. I just hope for their sake they don't end up with that horrid empty look that some forums and web sites have which I believe is as result of using WordPress.

Just noticed that they're moving to vBulletin. We left vBulletin behind two moves ago so they've still got some catching up to do.

I wonder what they're moving from?
