I’ve just seen posts on a French forum of people who are receiving France Télévisions via the DVB-T network complaining of the same issue through certain televisions.

Hopefully France TV will sort it out to make it compatible with everything again! Not sure what it is they’ve done, but it’s definitely upsetting a fair amount of equipment.

The stream on the satellite multistream is identical to what goes out to the public in France via the terrestrial transmitters. No processing is done to the video or audio before it’s fed into the transmitters.

So... What do you guys think, will the Primo be useless for the reception of France televisions in the future?

You can ask this question here:

Good point, well made - but not insurmountable ..... ^_^

And so I go seamlessly to the next question...

:-D

Does a tivùsat card (without CI module) work in a Edision Primo?
and do I have to change the card every 4 years?
I have three Primo’s (one for the Kitchen, one for the living room and one for my bedroom) and when those Italian channels disappear from 5W I am thinking whether I want to buy a (or more) Tivùsat card(s)
I never used a subscription service to watch satellite tv so I don’t know how easy it is to get working.
Given all the info I can get about this, I’ll decide wether I will get into Tivùsat or not.
Basically, the only reason why I watch those Italian channels is because it’s fun. Not because I really am interested specifically in one of those Italian channels.

has anyone some experience with this?

What do you mean with 25p?
25 frames per second progressive scan.
Broadcast TV is normally 25fps interlaced, with the fields captured at different times, called 25i by EBU or 50i by ITU, originally to reduce the required bandwidth. Deinterlacing properly produces 50fps progressive scan output.
But films are shot at 24fps and broadcast at 25fps so the fields were captured at the same time. Also consumer and outside broadcast cameras commonly produce 25p output, so there is no benefit from interlacing.

When the BBC started switching between 25i and 25p it caused problems with some TVs, notably Sony, but they were fixed by a firmware update.

I don't know whether this is what France TV has been doing.

Ive got a Tivusat card & cam for keeping an eye on the Italian channels. The card will work for a while in my TM5402 card reader but if its left too long without watching RAI I have to pop it back into the cam for a few minutes to reinitialise it. Ive had it a few years now & its not been replaced.

Hold off buying one as there has been talk of all the RAI HD channels going fta, with just some programmes blacked out

That’s very well described. Now I understand :-)

But if the receiver hasn’t a cam slot, it means that it is impossible to reinitialise itself...
I suspect only RAI 1,2 and 3 will become FTA, so that isn’t quite an expansion of the channels offered FTA

In France this issue seems to be affecting most LG TVs with the terrestrial feed apparently, as well as those of us with certain Multistream capable satellite boxes via 5°W!

As @Stevenvc19 has pointed out, the French digital terrestrial providers are aware and working on the issue!

Same issue here... I hope it will be fixed!
I can view all these channels without a problem on my Edision Primo in the west of Ireland.. I am using 1.2 m Gilbertini dish which is centred on 1 West so the 5W LNB is offset. The signal and quality are well down from 15 db to 11 db but the main terrestrial channels on Multistream are stable. I will need to align the dish exactly on 5W at some point and see the results.

The issue was rectified a couple of days ago.
