F'ing idiot - the rescue apparently also involved 2 other lifeboats and a SARS chopper, and even then he was lucky to be found before he drowned, according to BB news.

I trust his extreme sports insurance policy will happily cover the cost of the callouts, save him dipping into his pocket.

Could be, try tweaking it in positioner set up.
Thanks, but it’s the signal from the fixed Triax TD88 with multi lnb holder, that’s having the problem
Will have to wait now that the skies have reopened with hailstones

BUT. BEFORE you do that, make a note of the existing longitude settings for (at least) Thor at 0.8W and as many other sats as you can - that will:
a) give you an idea of which way the motor might have shifted on the pole, and thus how much you would need to shift it back to get it back to where it was before the storms
b) decide whether it's actually worth the effort to shit it back, or whether the difference is so slight that a tiny adjustment to the offset angle for Thor, as your "due South"/0 Deg datum sat, would surfice (it's rare for the motor/dish to be pointing EXACTLY at Thor at 0.8W with max signal levels, i.e. a "zero degrees" offset as it can often be 0.2-0.8 deg E or W of the 0.8W actual because it's extremely difficult to adjust the motor mount that accurately).

Unfortunately I had to go out (wife to doctor - hair "problems"!) before finishing my re-edit of the 1st version of that post:-rofl2

What I was going to say (before I was "so rudely interupted"!) about the fixed TD88 is that, since it has 4 LNBs aimed at 9E/13E/19E/28E, the one with the lowest levels of general signal before the storms was probably that aimed at 9E (19E and 28E will have been providing very strong signals, and so will have 13E albeit probably slightly lower)

Therefore, and given that the dish mount and arm on a TD88 can be a little "flexible" at times, I would suggest selecting a known channel of 9E on the receiver, and the gently "wiggling" the arm to the E and then to the W - and whichever way gives an increase in signal strength should indicate the direction in which to very slightly swing the dish mount on the pole in order to get it back to the position before the storms. Even a simple signal strength meter should be enough to determine that.

Many thanks for the advice,jeallen01
Seeing as the storm hasn’t given up on us yet.
I think I’ll hold off until the all clear
Thanks again

It's just started here in the past 20 minutes, wind picking up and drizzle/wet stuff.

And he wasn't even surfing, some of his kit got washed in and he waded in to get it back.

Must be "snowing a whiteout" - I can't see at thing, and neither probably can the ducks!

Interesting "result" from Ciara - the 1.25 Gibby was set up very carefully by Channel Hopper a few months ago, but still required a tiny corrective "tweak" of about a degree or so to the Go-to-Zero sat setting, which in my case is for Thor at 0.8W but that had to be set to about 0.4E to get correct tracking across the arc.

However, having just checked that dish across the arc, it now seems to require LESS correction, so I've "retweaked" it to 0.1W - Thanks Ciara!" :D

It's not the dish, or my work.

I think you may have taken my post to mean that I was being critical of your work in some way! However that was most definitely NOT the intention as I think that it's almost impossible to manually adjust the motor mounting of a very heavy motor & dish combo on the pole by as little as a 1/2 degree, and thus I believe that you got it as nearly "spot on" as anyone could have!

The post was actually merely intended to be a very "light-hearted" comment on the fact that Ciara knocked a lot of dishes out-of alignment, but in this case appears to have has a very tiny "positive" effect on the alignment of the Gibby.
