If you are to correctly align the dish to the arc you might get away without having to adjust the declination offset angle if the angle was correctly set previously and if the angle for your location is close to that of the original location.

You should be able to peak the signal level by adjustment of the elevation bolt, possibly one sixth of a turn of the hex nut at a time. Also, if the motor is wired up you could nudge the dish East/West one click at a time around the 0.8W position to see if it improves the signal.

I've tried both and it peaks at 15.3db.

I'm currently putting up a 120cm prime focus and got it pointed at 0.8w and the signal seems to be worst than my other 110cm cheap offset.

The prime focus is on a plumb pole and has a Inverto White Tech LNB and when pointed and tuned to Sky News International; it goes from 15.1db to 15.3db but on the 110cm dish, it goes up to 16.6db.

I've tried playing with the elevation but cannot change the dish declination because the bolts are rusted and cannot turn them. I assume this is the cause of the issue.



What is the grey piece of equipment that the Inverto LNB is bolted on to? Also, have you tried rotating the LNB to maximise signal level by adjusting the polarity skew?

It look so likethe original feed for the IRTE design , but may have the 'fish and chip fork' depolariser inside. It should be at 45 degrees to the LNB pins, or removed completely.

My guess though is the reflector is warped through transit, though only a side on picture will confirm.

I'll post some pics in a couple of hours but I cannot seem to get anything past 28.2e and 5w so there's definetely not aligned properly.

If it is possible to string test the dish it might indicate any warping issues?
Did you try to adjust the polarity skew?

I did do the string test and it did not seem to be warped but I'll do it again tomorrow just to be sure and to take some pictures.

The polarity skew is it just like LNB skew on a offset dish? similar to this?

On a MOTORIZED dish, the LNB MUST be set absolutely VERTICAL when the dish is pointed at your Southern-most sat and so should ("automatically"!) be Vertical - the MOTOR then skews the dish, and thus ALSO the LNB, to the correct angle for each sat, as it moves to the E or to the W!

Yes, that's I was thinking. I was just wondering about what @moonbase mentioned about polarity skew.

AFAIK, most of @moonbase's dishes are fixed, not motorized - so that "LNB skew per dish per sat" would be correct.

Is there a guide available on how to properly setup a prime focus dish?
