Technomate 3100, Universal LNB, 85cm dish, motor go to X

My previous setup had the LNB connectors up so the cables crossed the focal beam. Also not advisable considereing water ingress. So I swapped it today. Unfortunately its a tight fit for the connectors, cutting 5mm off the twist on connectors could be an idea. Or using a single lnb instead of a double that has connector higher up. Results are superb, 70% quality on BBC instead of 40% in heavy rain. Good improvement! Hopefully I have some weather reserve now for the winter. The LNB neck was cut and spliced using glue and some two component putty. Ended up as a messy job because I glued the bracket 90 deg wrong first...
So glue all over... used Tec7.
Looks a bit messy but dish is hidden behind the house anyhow. Think I will leave it for now. I would have loved to use a lathe to make a proper adapter though... I have also made a bracket to use a standard LNB, but using the original funnel I got outstanding results.

My location is Haugesund, 90cm dish. Heavy rain when testing. LNB is an old one I got for free.

There are 90 degree F connectors that may be of some use. Or turn the LNB 90 degrees, H & V will be reversed.

Just drill a pair of holes through the feedarm directly under the connections.

Yes indeed, angeled connectors exist! Will go hunting for them. Easy fix for the connector problem. Weather cleared up, 95% signal, 85% quality on BBC! That old dish, funnel and LNB is doing a great job together.

Matwrials used: Ink syringe with tape, centering the LNB in the pipe

Clear Tec7

Glass fibre two component filler (rapid stuff!) for holding the lnb into place

Why do not you change the LNB for something like this (on the attached pictures)?

There are very few C120 flanged LNBs currently being manufactured.

Those, on my pictures are not flanged LNBs but usual universal ones adopted to Fibo feedhorn.

I know. I've kept back a pair of C120 Invacoms (single and quad) plus some Invertos that should satisfy roof requirements for a few years. No PLL versions though.

My budget is 0,- at the moment. As a temporary fix I cut off 5mm of the plugs, then took the sharp edge off using a sinker bit. (?) I had to use PVC tape strapping it on waiting for the transparent TEC7 to settle for a few days. I plan on making a transparent cover over the LNB later. Fair enough where nobody can see it.

I bet you spend 3x more in the pub each weekend than you would need to get new LNB
Slightly more than a drill bit of the right size.

I care if the hobby means there is a reduction in the refreshment.

Agree with that. There should always be some kind of compromise between hobby and "must be" . But, we always can reduce the amount of food in the fridge :D and clothes in the wife's wardrobe though.... even it can be dangerous some time
