The TwinhanDTV Sat-Express card is low-profile; I have one, and it works well with all the 3rd party software, although it does get a little hot and become unstable without adequate space/airflow.

Thanks for the advice; I now (nearly) have it up and running. I too have found that the disecq switch stayed fixed to the last lnb being used by the DVB-s card rather than reverting to lnb1, even though the motor receiver is the master on the priority switch. When I get the chance, though, I...
OK, the title sounds a bit odd, but what I mean to ask is, what happens if a diesqc switch is connected to a receiver that can't control it; will the receiver simply connect to lnb 1, or will it not work at all?
Basically, I have a receiver running a motor, and also a DVB-s card connected to...
Thanks for alerting me to the difference, though actually I am still getting that error message on S*Y; but another one appears as well- this time saying "incorrect signature", whatever that may mean.
Still, after more experimentation, and mixing around some of the files I have downloaded, I...
Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately I tried replacing all my s2emu files with those from sa-computer-systems.com, but had exactly the same hash file missing message. It all seems a bit odd to me; I don't know what it could be in my system which is causing this error to remain regardless of...
I can't get any Seca2 channels to clear with any DVB software with any s2_emu files; I have downloaded 4 or 5 different versions, and they do all work with the other encryption types (I know many seca2 channels are disappearing at the moment, but I have tried all those that are meant to be...
This may be a no-brainer, but I've struggled to find anywhere on the web that explains why I keep getting this message on ProgDVB and MyTheatre, and no picture. I assumed it was something to do with DirectX, but I have installed DirectX9 on my computer, and tried copying (what I assumed were)the...
Just to say, I presume the SkyStar1 CI you are talking about is the newer model which doesn't have hardware decoding (I believe), unlike the old SkyStar1 cards, so it wouldn't have any advantage in that sense over the Twinhan card. I also would check first that it is compatible with the many...
Thanks (belatedly) nacturnal- only just realised that you had replied to this. I went for the Twinhan in the end anyway, though the one I actually received (from Germany on eBay- very cheap) was the 1025 "Sat Express" model, and not the 1020 that was pictured. This is a low profile version, and...
*Nacturnal;
I was wondering if you could tell me which versions of the Twinhan and the Skystar2 you are comparing for heat production; I am dithering between the two (or the Pinnacle PCTV Sat) and as I'm planning to put it in a fanless case this is very important to me.
Supposedly the Skystar2...
Well yes, I have been considering the Skystar USB, or the Hauppauge DEC3000- which can be used without a PC too- but was ideally hoping to keep everything in the box if possible; I'm really trying to rid myself of a few of the boxes under the TV, but will still need a digibox for ITV/Channel 4...
Thank you. Only trouble is, I'm not going to have any spare slots for a cooler! Are/were any of the 1.5 revisions sold as SkyStar 1 cards, or are they always sold as the Technotrend Premium?

I am dithering hopelessly over which satellite card to buy, but one determining factor could be the amount of heat it produces, as the plan was to house it in a fanless case (Silverstone LC-06). As the CPU will at first be only a Via C3 1GHz, I was going to buy one of the Skystar1/Nexus/...
Thanks a lot for the suggestion. To avoid running wires through the house, I guess I could just get a video sender connected to the TV out of the computer or satellite card (depending on which one I buy), and a capture card at the other end; but for better quality, I was really hoping to send...
I've finally taken the plunge, and am gradually putting together a HTPC for satellite viewing, amongst other things. Part of the "master plan" though is to have a second, small, low-powered (i.e.Via c3) computer to which I hope to be able to send the MPEG stream for viewing in another room.
As...
