how deep would i need to accommodate such a weighty beast...?

'ere, cop for this table attached below.
The table presents the wind load and anchorage parameters for a 1.8m dish.

You can "shape your hole" to provide sufficient depth and with enough anchorage

Calculations are approximate.

The wind load is somewhat less on an inverted offset dish, more in standard trim. Not just down to the angle of dangle, but the overall cross section.

Survival speed of the Prodelin equivalent was/is rated at 125mph, though this is with the OEM polarmount and a Baird post of 4" diameter (CM OEM would be 4.5"), sunk about a metre into the ground with approximately 0.4 m cubed of decent concrete.

You will need a good shovel.

i think I will stick with NPRM into studding from concrete base. thanks.

update:

bolt and nut now ordered.
frame built ready for hole and base, and second coat of primer applied to all polar mount bits - will give it a few days before applying top coat and re-assembling the polarmount.

Yes, 4.5", though the polarmount is nothing like the genuine article.

A rough guide for - US - professional satellite systems has always been to add half an inch - internal post diameter - for every foot of dish diameter for reliable operation and survive parameters.

90cm / 3' = 2.88" post
120cm / 4' = 3.38"
150cm / 5' = 3.88"
180cm / 6' = 4.38"
240cm / 8' = 5.38"
300cm /10' = 6.38"
380cm /12' = 7.38"
450cm /15' = 8.88"
600cm /20' = 11.38"
750cm /25' = 13.88"
and so on. The Russians and Chinese use slightly different formulae but the final calculations, including ballast needs are very similar.

Looking at the pictures of the red primed metalwork I think "manik" has an outer pole that slides over the NPRM pole?
The outer pole looks as though it has the correct size head to accept the pole cap of the polar mount.

As this was a working setup before it was bought by "manik", my hopes are that the refurb direction he is heading in will prove to be OK.
Once the concrete pad is made, the NPRM can be bolted to it. Additionally, the NPRM can be weighed down with additional ballast in the paving slab trays if required.

Update:
As I thought, there is an outer pole that slides over the NPRM pole.

correct - here it is when it was in action...im just tidying up the thing, and creating a base for it.

I had questioned the possibility earlier in the day.

My concern was the construction of the small pole of NPRM to the base , only reinforced in one direction .
Later pictures shows the 2 extra stripes clamped higher at the extra pole .

I would be surprised if those cross braces actually do much, the entire thing will just twist in high winds. I have the stand from satellite superstore that is more robust than that and it twists. Maybe not an issue if your on a strong sat but deffo will be if your on 3w or something.

i dont think it will

the NPRM will be bolted into a concrete base, the extra brace also - i will drill through inner and outer pole and rod/bolt up in a couple of places also.

@Captain Jack has similar setup, believe all good.

Yes, I also have NPRM bolted into a concrete base and stabilised with solid rods. There's no way it will move...

@manikm909 I hope that pole reducer in your picture isn't from SSS, as I have one from them for a huge price, and it's rubbish. Thin metal and rusted inside within a few weeks - I had no trust in it at all. In the end, I constructed my own. I did mail them to give them my thoughts but they were adamant that it was good enough...

concrete base finished (1 meter stud\rods knocked in for NPRM)
new pivot bolt and nut (imperial)
new bearings
new eye bolt (was missing)
new bolts for bracket

i will tidy up paint work once on pole...

still got to paint dish - waiting for nicer weather....it wont come.

here are some pics....

thank you to @nelson_b @moonbase for your help and encouragement, thus far
