hello everyone,
i'm back!!
well i'm in Tver, Russia about 2hrs west of moscow..with a 210cm dish on the roof of my 9 story apartment building..and a regular sky+ box (thompson i think)..
anyway,,been enjoying my scottish/english soccer for for years although, only 401,403, and often 402 came in, and sky movies only on 303,,none of the bbc except for news 501, and none of itv, or e4,,but alot of discovery channel stuff though..ok,ok, anyway,, that was the case, & i was happy enough as some of you may remember but now i've lost everything! missed the super bowl! =(( ..really =((((( cant explain how nice it was to have sky when everyone outside speaks russian!

well now i'm reading about "2F" and it seems others (alot) are losing there signal..i can't get anything,,been using 12207,,or 12702,,for soo long i forget whqt it was! and also 11778,,the default .well anyway, can sum1 do a QUICK explanation in lay-man's terms as to what heck is goin on?!? and obviously ANY remedy would be,,well with out words of to describe my true gratitude!

What's going on is SES Astra who own the satellites at 28e position have changed over to a new satellite with a reduced coverage area.

Only thing you can do is see if you can get the channels streamed over the internet or see about a dish upgrade but that is extreme fringe reception so you could be talking well over 4metre dish and still receive nothing.

I take it Russian isn't your mother tongue? The Russians have plenty of satellites shining down on them - I am sure one of HTB+/Trikolor/Raduga/Kontinent etc. channel will carry Superbowl? Maybe even with switchable language?

Your only hope to get Sky channels back is a larger dish - much larger dish. Although, don't rule out a faulty receiver as well - try another one, in case this one has gone kaput (especially the older Thomson, which suffer from power supply component failures).

Astra 2B and its nice widebeam has been decommissioned from 28E and is being sent to 19E to act as spare capacity

Most 2B programming has been reassigned to the Astra 1N pan European beam - but this only covers western Europe really.

You need to think about an alternative way of getting your English language tv.

One way would be via Hotbird & Sky Italia - the Hotbird coverage areas are much greater than those of the newer Astra 2 craft at 28E. Many of the popular channels carry English audio, although you wont get the BBC ITV or C5 obviously.

Or you can go down the broadband route. Many expats are enjoying their uk tv via filmon.com atm ;)

Try 12.285V or 11.683V. They are strong here so maybe they will there.
