I have got a 80cm motorised dish. I tried to pick up a feed of Liverpool v Cardiff on 10996H on Wed night (31/10) but I didnt get any signal at all.

On my Force 516 receiver if the signal goes below 33% it fails to show up at all, and below 40% i dont get a picture.

I get 55% on 11387H and clear the channels without any problem and can watch them without break up.

I tried to fine tune the dish but its already optimised.

I have got a Manhattan HH100 motor.

I am in Isle of Man (Irish Sea); http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=...54.470038,-3.592529&spn=2.617851,7.470703&z=7

Do you think I would be able to get the feed on 10996H with a Triax 1.1m ?

I think my motor will just about drive this dish.....(can anyone confirm ?)

Many thanks

It can be very difficult to pull in these low symbol rate transponders, can you get a signal on 12632 Vertical 2141 3/4 Rede International?

I will check "Rede" later and report back.

I've managed to pick up feeds on other birds in the past with SR's of 5632 and 6111.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes, but this particular satellite is not very strong at your location, so a low symbol rate will make the signal less robust.

the 1.1m dish will improve things as the feeds go low symbol rate so they cant be picked up on small dishes

the motor should be fine if its not in an exposed location

Thanks for the replies folks.

For the record i cannot get Rede on 12W.

Does this change any of the answers given above ?

And whats the feeling about upgrading from 80cm to 1.1m ? Would it help me ?

(I understand your info is an element of guesswork and realise that you cant give a definite answer.....but whats the chances of getting feeds on 12W with the bigger dish given my location and everything I have stated.....??)

thanks again

yes upgrading to 1.1m dish would help lots as the size difference is quite alot compared to 80cm dish
