Thnx,

Hi,
There are no clones of dm500hd and dm 8000 yet, but only dm800's.
If you buy a clone, beware of warranty, because an original one can be shipped to Dream-Multimedia to be repaired,
while a clone can't.
So look for a seller of trust, where to buy it, who'll give assistance to to you if you have any problem.

Thnx,

Do you prefer 500HD original or 800HD clone?

The biggest difference between original and clone is about the upgrade.
My original dm800 could be upgraded how many times I like a day without any problem.
A clone needs a lot of time to be upgraded and often that's not possible with every image.

Then, I prefer a dm800 to a 500hd.
The 500's cheaper, but it has no usb port for Smargo or Omnikey readers and hardisk can't be put inside, but only as external
e-sata.

Thnx. I did read somewhere that internal HDD leads to overheat, so perhaps my best choice is to utilize the esata port...

Can I jtag a DM800HD clone in case of a bad/corrupt flash? or in case DMM distributed a virus killing clones :)

Dm800 overheats very much without inside hardisk too; but I've ever had no problem with it.
There are no images who corrupt dm800 clone's flash; it only was for the old dm500's ones.
Simply, you could have problem with it if anything goes broken inside and there is no factory that could repair it.
