I've only got the 4008 plugged in currently and the terrestrial content which uses this protocol (YAAAS !, Vision TV etc.) do not enable.

Is it possible to configure this receiver (or the SF8008 combo) to work with these channels ?

Perhaps it requires a plugin

Using my Vu+ Duo4KSE I was able to activate HBBTV contents with Openatv 7.0 image without installing any additional plugin, but not on all channels.
For example, HBBTV did work on Swiss channels, but not on italian RAI channels. I know that RAI is using HBBTV version 2.0.1, not sure about Swiss channels but probably they are using an older one.

It could be that the RAI uses geobloc. Rai won't work with me either on my EDISION OS MIO+ 4K in Belgium.

I think the UK stuff might have some kind of device block in the HBBTV as well, maybe a hardware whitelist for Freeview/Freesat "certified" TVs and receivers? (Each device sends a 'user agent' value on making the web request for the content).

For example I've never got the HBBTV version of BBC Red Button to appear on my Octagon SF8008 mini via terrestrial, but the HBBTV on satellite channels like the ARD and ZDF ones from Germany works fine.

Do freesat receivers have the option for HBBTV? I struck me non of the UK channels has HBBTV when I tune them on my Edision. I thought it didn't existed in the UK (like it doesn't exist for the belgian channels as well, only some cable companies use some sort of non standard HBBTV on the channels they distribute)

Yes, there's definitely HBBTV present on the BBC channels via satellite at least, it's parsed by TVHeadend for example.

Newer Freesat receivers and compatible TVs support red button iPlayer and green button "restart this programme" which are both delivered via HBBTV now.

The URL TVHeadend parses isn't accessible in a browser, even using an HBBTV plugin, it seems to be blocked based on the 'user agent', which is what makes me think that there is a whitelist involved somewhere.

Slightly off topic, I've scanned the terrestrial band with the GTMedia Combo and it doesn't have any of the Hbb channels in the stored list.

I understand the receiver is not HbbTV compatible but to miss them completely is a bit odd.

I think because the DVB service type is “data” rather than “TV” or “Radio” for these, some receivers will automatically ignore them in a scan.

a little comparison with my provider:
BBC not send ApplicationType in ApplicationSignalling but uses StreamIdentifier in PMT_table
BBC uses its 2x ApplicationID own OrganisationID in AIT_table

The Slovakian channels (11636V on 16E) show up as Hbb, are they simulbroadcast ?
