Anyone here with the P or P+ getting 7-day epg on HD channels? I'm getting 7-day epg on SD channels, 4-day epg on ITV HD but only 'now and next' on BBC HD and BBC1 HD since the commencement of the latter cahnnel.

Haven't had my Passion HD working for a few months, updated firmware to AD114, did a factory reset to Freesat and scanned in the BBC One HD channel. This doesn't give me any EPG info, but then I'm also not getting any EPG's for BBC One SD. Very odd. However, I do get 7-day EPG's for BBC HD and ITV HD.

I was wondering about a factory reset, but usually avoid it as it can mess up my channel data or other settings. May give it a try though. I'm on av128fs.

Don't think I'm on the latest S/W version for my Passion (Don't have the + model). Think I'll bring it up to date.

I have been playing around with my P+, and I think I may have resolved this for you :-

Set LOGICAL CHANNEL NO to OFF in the Menu, and then do a cold reboot

This should work because I could get consistently the same results as you with it set to ON, its just that I prefer the simpler 1 for BBC1, 2 for BBC2 etc approach to channel selection. Thats why I always had a full 7-day EPG, and couldnt understand why you were suffering this problem.

If you have any further comments on this problem, continue on this site which is more specialist for FS boxes, rather than the AV Forum site

I already have it set to 'off'. Tried setting it both ways, cold reboot, factory reset, no joy so far. Which station do you have in the 0001 slot when you get 7-day epg on BBC1 HD and BBC HD?

Another P+ user has reported success on another Forum by switching Logical Channel No to OFF after reading this thread, so I dont understand why its not making any difference for you.

So I have completely de-personalised my P+ -----> reloaded V1.28, factory reset using the options UK/Freesat/North West. This scans using the current FS standard channel list for Freesat, which is now out of date. This defaults to the following Menu settings :-

Logical Channel No - ON
UK 7-day EPG - ON

with the following effect :-
  • BBC1(101) is BBC North West, ITV1 is ITV Granada (also NW).
  • There is no BBC1 HD because it is not yet in the standard channel list. Manually scanned 10847V, and BBC1 HD was added as channel 5000.
  • Having left it in the Guide for over 20minutes, the EPG now behaves exactly as you have reported - very few channels with 7 days, a lot with 4 days, and BBC1 HD with only Now & Next. ITV1 HD(the original red button version on 11428H) also has only 4 days.
THEN, I switched Logical Channel No to OFF and did a cold reboot. Within 4 minutes of going into the Guide, all channels (including BBC and ITV regions) showed a full 7 days, with the exception of the following channels :-
  • All recently moved BBC channels which are now on different TPs (about 50% of them) so couldn't be found
  • ITV1 HD (the original version)
  • All channels that no longer broadcast
  • All channels that are no longer part of Freesat
NEXT I loaded my SetEditPassion-maintained personal channel list including :-
  • All recently amended BBC TPs
  • BBC1 HD (0001), I only have BBC1(SD) in the regional section
  • BBC HD (0005)
  • ITV1 HD (North West on 10936V) instead of 'red button' version
  • All BBC and ITV regions included
  • All non-existant channels deleted
Following a cold reboot, and 4 minutes in the EPG, I have 100% of all channels with a 7-day guide.
I dont know what more I can do to test this. I am pretty confident that the LCN setting is the cause of lot of users problems with the EPG. It has been reported to FS, and hopefully the next release will fix it, together with an amended channel list which includes BBC 1 HD

I followed your procedure with Northwest, then with Yorkshire and it went as you described until the last part of loading my own channel list. I tried it from the stb memory (menu>factory setting>channel recovery) and from a saved USB memory stick, but either way I only get 'now and next' on BBC HD channels. I tried moving channels slots to be more like the Freesat order but no joy. Unless your own channel list isn't multi-sat, I assume the SetEdit formatted list is different enough from the stb formatted list, to prevent it overwriting whatever the epg 'finder' needs to produce a full HD epg.

I think I'll have to wait for the Fortec fix for hopefully multi-sat use as well as basic Freesat.

Yes, I am on a fixed dish to 28.2E, so it looks like multi-sat throws the 'freesat' settings out of the window. I will report it to FS and lets see what happens.

I have also noticed that once I have reloaded my channel list , either from USB or Channel Recovery, there are a couple of minor differences in operation (even though I am still in Freesat mode) :-

  • The bottom info bar shows frequency and FEC details as well as program data
  • When you press the OK/Select button you get a double-column Channel List, instead of a Category window on the left with a single-column Channel List window on the right.
Also have you noticed that Channel Backup stores Menu Settings and the Personal Planner list as well. So if you do a Channel Backup before a firmware upgrade, then you can do a Factory reset, followed by a Channel Recovery, and you will not have to change the menu settings back to your own preferences or re-setup your scheduled recordings list. Effectively a 'fuss-free' upgrade.

That's the 'manual search' view which I prefer. It also shows (in 'manual search') the PIDS and frequency of each channel in the list before selection, so easy to check that identical broadcasts from different 'same name' channels on the same frequency, aren't duplicates due to scanning anomalies.

You also get 7 lists of favourites in that mode and now the renaming of the lists works. It didn't on one of the previous firmwares so I haven't use it much.

It's a pity Fortec can't provide a s/w channel list editor, or employ the CLE editor writer to mod his program. I assume the Setedit guy is happy to stay independent with his product, but it seems overpriced to me.
