Hi there, wonder if anyone can help me.

In previous posts I mentioned that I have one of those 'Selfsat' white square plastic dishes. I decided that I wanted to motorise it and checked the internet to see what type of motor I needed. Upon checking it was compatible with the HH90 rotor motor. Now here is my quandary, I bought a stab fortec star HH90 rotor motor off ebay, now I notice that there is a stab selfsat HH90 rotor motor. I am worried that the motor I bought is not going to be compatible with the dish especially as I have the installer coming round next week.

Does anyone know if these two motors are exactly the same.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated as I am starting to panic here.

Many thanks jb000

A bit difficult to say without a description of each.

The only thing that is different about a selfsat dish is that it has no elevational offset. Disecq motors are generally deigned with offset dishes in mind, and have a bend in the mounting pole so that most offset dishes can be fitted. I was not aware that there was a stab motor for non offset dishes. Could you post the item number?

The motor is both Disecq and USALS. Looking at it. it seems not to have a model number apart from HH90. Looking on google images these two motors appear to be the same, however, I am worried that there might be individual fittings for the selfsat motor that the fortec star doesn't have. It is so frustrating that the same company Stab has 2 motors with the same model number.

A DiSEqC motor is a DiSEqC motor, the only difference may be the mounting bracket. I've got a Selfsat dish in the garage, but can't remember what the mounting arrangement is. Does it have a mast clamp and elevation bracket?

Yes it does. I had the dish mounted on a tripod in the garden to pick up hotbird, I remembered I had to set the elevation and tighten the bracket to 30 degrees.

If push really came to shove and it isn't compatible, I can rush out and get an 80cm conventional with Lnb. A place in Middlesbrough are selling tham for £50 at the moment. And will put the selfsat on ebay and try to recoup some loss.

FYI, this is what the Selfsat DiSEqC motor looks like :

_http://www.hm-sat-shop.de/en/motoren-positionierer/selfsat-hh-90-diseqc-motor.html

The motor stub is a different design to fit the Selfsat, otherwise it's a standard DiSEqC motor.

Looks like it may also have an adapter with it _http://www.satshop.tv/SELFSAT-HH90-Motor although anything can be adapted given a little ingenuity.

Many thanks for the advice guys. I have had a long think about this overnight and I have decided to cut my losses and go out and buy the conventional 80cm dish so that the installer can fit the motor to it and install it. The selfsat will be put on ebay. I know I will be taking a financial hit but I suppose you live and learn eh.
