Good morning
How to setup two receivers to control motorised dish without using loop through.
Thanks.

I would do it as described in this post (in Dutch!):

The important part of it, translated:
If you want to watch one satellite at the same time with two receivers, but with only one receiver at a time in motor-control, then a setup with a twin-LNB is also possible.

Both receivers have to split the motor- and LNB-path with a power pass both ways splitter (or a reverse power pass splitter, or a Spaun UniTap). The two motor-paths then via a priority switch to the motor. And the two LNB-paths to the two outputs of the twin LNB.

Then you can also watch the motor-satellite with the 'slave'-receiver, for instance another quadrant than the 'master'. And when the 'master' is off, the slave has full motor-control again.

BTW I now don't advise the UniTap anymore! (added: for the splitting off of the motor path)
In one case on the italian forum, it caused a problem.

Edited: addition.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

With a manual two way switch in place with full isolating contacts, you can drive the motor with either receiver.

Do both receivers need to work at the same time? Is the LNB single or twin?

Single lnb one needs to work at a time

Is it possible to connect both receivers with some kind of splitter and control the motor by only one receiver say keep the motor setting to none on 2nd receiver

The Philex switch should do that?
Connect the controlling receiver to one output, the non contolling receiver to the other output and your single LNB cable to the input.

I have not used a Philex like that before but dont see a reason why it wont work. Perhaps one of the "switch gurus" can add something?

@jeallen01 's solution does exactly that, automatically. Single LNB, and at the 'slave receiver' you might be able to watch programs in the same quadrant as the master receiver (which has the motor and LNB control, when giving LNB power).
(NB For a priority switch to work properly, the master receiver must be without LNB power, when switched off!)

When you want to watch independently to one chosen satellite, you need a twin LNB, and the setup that I proposed.

When the second receiver is switched off, there is no 'motor setting' of the second receiver. So what do you mean by that?

Edit: do you mean you don't want motor control, from your second receiver? Just the LNB-signal?
Of course you are free to use the motor control, or not, from your second receiver.
Why not have the ability to use the motor control, when the first receiver is switched off anyhow?

I have the same switch, I haven't got around to setting it up yet. I was recommended it from a member on another forum.

The expensive one that I linked this morning was after only a very quick search, and so that's more like the price they should be ( and some of mine are just like that one)

Duh! I meant @jeallen01 's solution.

Sorry, jeallen01!
It seems I just looked who posted above, but not who posted what... :(

OK.
So you don't want to use the motor control at your second receiver, just to receive the signal.

By the way. When the first receiver is switched off while the dish is at the "wrong" satellite for your second receiver, you could still use the second receiver to go to the wanted satellite.
With USALS (GotoX) that is no problem at all.
With diseqc 1.2 GotoNn commands it can work also, but you have to use the same Nn number for a certain satellite. These Nn numbers must match with the stored Nn positions in the motor.
You could also use USALS with one receiver, and diseqc1.2 GotoNn with the other....

Just for your information,
Greetz,
A33

Yes, buy & try it and hopefully that will solve your "problem" :D

Even if doesn't then I'm sure you'll find another use for it in the future.

BTW: I actually have 3 SPS in a box just outside the house to allow access & control from both the lounge and the office - one is for the Gibby, the 2nd for the the steerable TD110 & the 3rd goes down to the DiSEqC 16-1 switch for the fixed dishes.
