hi guys i recently installed a motorized dish i am based in south of ireland and using a 80cm dish i have never been able to get 7w but from researchin seems i wont unless i got a big ass 2.4 or 3M dish, but my question on 16e i seem to have a fairly week signal cant get all transponders? i thought i was following the arc ok because i can get 30w and to 28e picking up most sats in between would this be done to my dish size??

Sounds about right.

16E is a funny one with a small number of decent strength TPs that an 80cm will get, but going up to 1.1m makes a big difference.

I doubt your alignment is out. You should have AlsatTV but probably not Balkanika: I find Balkanika is only available in pixellated form in really good propagation conditions on my 80cm, but is solid on the 1.1m.

Well just because you have the ends of the arc doesn't mean you are on the arc see pic but I think a 90cm would be better

You may need a tweak on the elevation as the other sats around are very strong so you could be fooled into thinking it is sufficent

If you want most transponders on 16e then you have to set up the dish to track the arc, then put the dish on 16e and fine tune the elevation for that satellite. Then check the other satellites are ok.

You might have to get an aluminium 1m like the Gilbertinin or a perforated 'mesh' 1m if you want a really lightweight dish.

It is fine here on the 80cm even in drizzle, as the elevation was spot on. A happy accident rather than intended. No problems on my LH 1m of course.

A month ago the low symbol rate channels suddenly improved in quality by almost 10% and by 1% signal strength. This only lasted for about a week. Why it happened I don't know. Perhaps they tried putting them on the new satellite at 15.8e, or perhaps the satellite was tilted on it axis, or some other obscure reason.

I have experienced the same issues on 16E,was thinking about an lnb change, however that last bit of info from Hexah, has answered a question for me.About a month ago i was getting a watchable signal on 16E,12626/4520,Radio Capri Television, but have since noticed a 3% decline in signal quality, but strength is constant, some TP's do fluctuate.I am using an 80cm dish on a Motech HH motor tracks the arc ok,my strongest sat at 1W,98%,from there 30W is 80%,42E is 82%.Interesting one this 16E

You won't even get the stronger Verticals without at the very least a 1.2m dish.

As for Horizontals, well start at 1.8m and escalate upwards rapidly. The sizes you mentioned at Post #2 seem about right for your location.

No chance of anything at all, ever, with that 80cm!

May even struggle with 7w verticals on a 120cm (depending on actual location). Look at getting the biggest most affordable dish as possible.
