Well, an Opticum Red Rocket single LNB to be exact. More for curiosities sake (and the name and design) than the need for another LNB. Anyone come across one before?? Obviously I'll be testing it and passing along the results...how will it compare to the Black Ultra, that's the question.....

A new one on me, Pete.

Very unusual styling, but rather fetching.

I still have a gawdy "0.1dB" LNB from years ago that was very cheap and had a casing with a bright green bottom half and vivid red top half.

It actually performed quite well, despite the obvious fact that it was a cheap Chinese device which undoubtedly would not meet the claims regarding spec.

I'll be very interested to hear what you say comparing it to the Black Ultra.

I have been told (on another forum) by an installer in the south of France that he has tested the Opticum against the Inverto Black Ultra and found it to be superior.

You call it the red rocket. I wonder if there are other LNBs available from Opticum which might be different? Just think of the confusing range that Inverto offer...

I'm prepared for it to be the proverbial 'damp squib'.......it might be useful because of the smaller diameter feedhorn which allows for a 3 degree seperation on multi sat.....it's a tad on the expensive side though.....

:-party2 :-veils :-bubbly

how will it compare to the Black Ultra, that's the question.....

We'll soon find out!

Likely another generic ultra slim squeeze in anywhere LNB like the micro amazon.co.uk/Micro-Single-LNB-gold-Edition/dp/B004TTNJLU/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1383053591&sr=1-5&keywords=LSD lnb 4real

But you never know till you try it. Kind of like the silver rocket. . .

I still torture myself over not getting a LSD lnb.

Interesting design - I might invest in one for the narrow feedhorn - the cheapie one I bought with a white conical cap is awful in the bad weather up here once rain gets onto it! (Many of the 19E signals disappear!!)

:D

Yes, I think whoever designed it used to design lipsticks..........anyway AS, wait till I've tested it, it may be even more awful than the one you've got now......

Although not many people on here ...know this LNB.......The opticum is a Very very good LNb but only the x2,x4 and the x8.., the single output is not very good..!...and yes I can also confirm ...the Opticum x8 lnb performs better than a inverto black ultra x4 I tested ..6 months ago...!!.......don' t know how good a " red rocket....is tho .....looking forward to the test...!!

I don't have anything other than single LNB's (not true actually, I do have a twin Octagon which I tested against a single BU and found it wanting) and I have seen posts on here saying that both twin and quad versions of the BU are superior to a single output one. I did try a twin BU once and found no difference but without a spectrum analyser and more extensive testing it's hard to come to a definitive conclusion. For sure I won't know how good the 'red rocket' is without trying, though I won't be buying a twin or quad for testing purposes as well LOL

I wonder if an Opticum did well against the Black Ultra on a bright sunny day. If so I suspect the Black Ultra would be victorious if it was painted white.

Have you actually tested a black ultra and a opticum....? ...or are just following all the other sheep with what you think is a safe statement..?

The black ultra has beaten everything so far.

If something beats it and loads of people get it and say it is better, then it will take the place of the black ultra.

I look forward to that day!

I'm not gonna argue with you .....but...how can you make such a silly statement ..?...if you have never even tested one...yourself....?.....everything I post on here ..is from my own personal experience of testing stuff..ie learning by doing.....!...then sharing with others on here and my other forum.....don't just "poo,poo"..something ...just because you haven"t heared of Opticum products..!
Ps Lots of people already know how good Opticum LNb s are ....if you take the time to look at other members profile's......

This is the first time I've heard if this LNB, so looking forward to the results as I could do with a slimmer LNB to go on one dish where the 13E and 9E Black Ultra LNBs are really too close together to get a prefect signal from both satellites.

I have a few twin Megasat Diavolos - they aren't bad but the red caps have faded to a washed-out pink within a few months.
