checked the cable and thats ok.
can get picture through SCART, but nothing on HDMI - no picture or sound.
have done factory reset.
turned off and on with just HDMI cable in.
HDMI did used to work and recall having a problem before where I was using HDMI and switched it to RGB and then had to plug in a SCART cable to be able to switch it back to CVBS for HDMI.
Has anyone else had this problem with losing HDMI output and solved it?

I don't have a Passion+ so can only generalise.

Some receivers are unable to ouput through the scart port and the HDMI port at the same time. Have you ever been able to view through these simultaneously? Is there an option somewhere to switch the RGB off? Or, at the very least, turn it into a composite output?

Thanks for the response PaulR. I've never been able to view simultaneously, just one or the other.

The menu options for TV setting video output are:-
- CVBS
- S-Video
- RGB
nothing else.
and the manual helpfully says:-

11.2.1 Video Output
• Select the TV output options for TV SCART using
</>buttons (CVBS, S-Video, RG:cool:.

There is a separate reference to HDMI here:-

7.1.1 Connect STB to Digital TV Set - HDMI
• Connection to digital TV which can support HD resolution using HDMI port.
• Set STB’s video output mode to 1080i or 720p or 576p or 480p from the menu
• When connecting via HDMI, you do not need to connect audio cables.

which I have tried.
I have tried without other cables and after reboot, but still nothing on HDMI.

and the Troubleshooting section says if you have this fault:-

"Poor HD picture quality connected by YpbPr or HDMI"

then try this:-

"Change the HD output resolution in the TV Setting Menu"

which I have set to 1080i. Tried 720p - no effect.

Its strange there is no specific setting for HDMI.

Are you leaving the scart lead conncting the TV to the box whilst trying to view on HDMI? If so, try disconnecting it to see if it will then work. I presume that you've tried setting the scart TV out option to CVBS first.

Yes, I've selected CVBS with HDMI cable connected and SCART not connected.
Then I've tried rebooting the box.
And then I've tried turning the TV off/on, I'm presuming the TV might then send a signal down the HDMI cable that might 'wake up' the box, but just guessing there.
Its as if the box does not recognise that the HDMI cable is connected or it does not recognise that the SCART is disconnected.
I'll try memorising the remote key strokes to get to the menu to select input, and then try selecting S-Video, then CVBS, see if that works. Of course, I won't be able to see what is happening unless it works!

Doesn't matter if the Scart is connected or not, HDMI is always on with the Passion, but selecting RGB does funny things on my TV(loss of sync).

Selecting CVBS you should have both available on your TV (CVBS through Scart and HDMI).

But at least you can plug the scart back in to see what you have to do to undo the mess!

Unless anyone else has any further suggestions I think my last one is that the Passion+ is faulty.

Keystrokes (this is with my Passion, but AFAIK it's the same with the Passion +) -

On switching on the box (wait a 30 secs or so for it to boot up)

MENU
2 keystrokes to the right (VOL+ key)
One keystroke down (CH- key)
OK key

If CVBS is up in the Scart menu, this should present a picture with Scart or HDMI chosen on the TV. If not, press VOL+ which gives you the three options (CVBS, S-Video and RG:cool: by pressing CH- and OK in turn until you have a picture via HDMI (assuming your HDMI lead is OK.)
