Can someone please advise,

My Zoostorm desktop pc will not power up I think it may be the PSU LPA 300C has stopped working
It has been working ok for 3 years,

Maybe 300watts is too low should I fit a higher wattage PSU such as
Corsair Builder Series CXM 500W Modular 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX/EPS PSU ?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00ALK1G...m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=0P41QYVRE2C1R5ZP40DT

I have never done this before but it looks easy enough,DSCN0908[1].JPG

You should look at ebuyer so should be able to get a higher wattage power supply cheaper then that one from Amazon.

I have changed quite a few psu's over the years, there is nothing to it.

Just check the power connections, see if you have any sata power connectors and how many, and the other power connectors.

The mobo normally has 1 long connecter plugged in to the board and a 4 pin plug by the cpu.

10 mins top and you should be able to swap it over your self.

Good luck with it :-)

Yeah as Martin says its dead easy to swap a psu. Unsnap the connectors on the mobo, slide the drive connectors off, undo any screws and ease it out.

Refitting is the reverse. The connectors are all keyed so you cant get them round the wrong way - so if something doesnt seem to want to go in, STOP - dont force it.

Oh and take basic anti static precautions. Try not to drop the screws as they always end up under the mobo and it can be fun getting them out (got the tshirt with this one - I swap lots of power supplies every year!)

Before you think of changing the PSU, check the front panel connection to the power switch and the RAM sitting correctly in the socket(s). You could also try taking everything out of the circuit except the MOBO (RAM/Drives and fan(s) ) just in case one of these has died.

You might have a faulty MOBO and this would be more expensive and time consuming to replace.

I went for this one as the other was out of stock

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00642F8AU?keywords=Power X3 500W Power Supply 500 Watt PC ATX PSU 2xSATA, 24PIN&qid=1439910581&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1

Tested & no motor movement so sent it back to supplier & Amazon refunded me immediately,

I had a look at e buyer to find a equivalent to LPA-300C or higher wattage with same loom configuration as:-
Power X3 500W Power Supply 500 Watt PC ATX PSU 2xSATA, 24PIN

http://www.ebuyer.com/546583-evga-500w-fully-wired-80-bronze-power-supply-100-b1-0500-kr

also here back in stock http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-Bui...words=500w-fully-wired-80-bronze-power-supply

Will the wire looms on this unit fit my Zoostorm Premium pc ?

It's unusual although not impossible for a new out of the box PSU to be DOA but before you write it off you should test it without being connected to the PC, it's a simple job to jumper two of the wires on the large ATX connector to see if the built in fan spins. I would suspect the MOBO/CPU/RAM or a connected peripheral to be at fault before I condemned a new PSU.

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

Another suggestion, check your mains power cable too, I've been caught out a couple of times with bad cables or fuses, especially if something bad happened inside the PSU and popped the fuse in the plug... :)

You might notice that the power supply Unit is slightly different, from your original unit, depending on the age of your PC, and the manufacturer.
Newer PSU's have extra connections, including a 4 pin supply for graphic cards, some even have an extra 4 pins, on the main connection, you will notice that this slides off, if not required, and goes into another socket, on the motherboard.
Some manufacturers even modify PSU's, or have their own design, so that they fit their cases, and look tidy, with no, or few, extra leads.

Just like the one you replaced then :D

The PSU LPA 300C (300W) has been very noisey since I bought had I have known how easy it was to change it I would have replaced it before it broke down.
