Hi guys,

Any help would be great, I'm a complete sat novice. What kit would I need to buy to receive as many Russian/Russian language channels as possible with a fixed dish, and how many/what variety would I gain access to?

Thanks in advance.

Paul.

I'm in Wigan nr Manchester nothing blocking overhead and not a built up area.

Hi,
Have you looked on lyngsat or flysat.com all the sats together with their packages are listed on those sites. Unless you want a huge dish you want to stick to Ku band.Looks like there is a few Russian channels on 40E (Express AM1),up to 90cm dish required.

Right, thanks guys, so It looks like ill be needing to pick up Sirus 5E and Hotbird 13E. I have managed to get my hands on a old sky dish, the 60cm eliptical black mesh one and also a satellite reciever. If I get a dual lnb will this size dish pick up both the satellites mentioned?

Thanks again

Paul.

No it won't, a 60cm will do for Hotbird alone, although I would normally use a 70 or 80cm and 80 to 90cm for Sirius. Also you wouldn't get them with a monobloc LNB as they are not the right spacing, you would need two LNBs on an offset bracket.

Is the receiver FTA or with either CI slot or embedded cam with multicrypt smartcard reader ?
With an an official smartcard subscription you will be able to open more channels.
You need to find out which smartcards and what encryptions do they have.
Check the Lyngsat channels list for these satellites and there you will see more details.
Click on "P" for the providers packages channels.

RTVi package 12 months in Viaccess costs 159 quid, recommended dish size 80 cm.

Hello!

best way,you buy a antenna, with minimum size,of 1,50m,and a cband lnb,and point your dish to the satelite yamahl 49 east, sending in cband only, there are many many rusian channels!
FTA, with my 1,80m dish from irte, that i use for cband,at the moment, signal is so strong like astra!

on hotbird, for ntv channels,in viaccess 2,you need subsribsion card, dont know, where you can get one ,in europe!
