signal has dropped to about 58% on most sats , been up with meter and tweaked re-aligned slightly but still about 70%

i get 15.0 on 0.8w Sky news on the meter and everything in the arc is ok. but as soon as it rains or even slight wind 20mps signal breaks up even on 28.2

the lnb arm is badly moving about as is the dish (its all tight) , i have noticed the Motor pole can be wobbled even though its tight ( nut circled) . there is a gap between the pole and motor

i will take a photo tommorw ,

stock image highlighted where the gap is,

Is it normal to have a gap (5mm)between the motor and the arm/pole, it's. Wider than than my old tm2300, (thats flush) got it kindly off here (capt jack) , if I undo the nut does that remove the pole from the motor.

I've had my 80cm dish up for quite a few years with a similar motor and there's very little movement, don't think there's a gap like you describe.

It the bolt hasn't been tightened up by the installer when first fitted there is a good chance the gap will have widened through movement, wind and general wear over the years.

I got it free from captain Jack which I greatly appreciate, when I got i noticed the gap and slight movement.

Not sure if he had opened it up in the past the seals where broken. Just an observation.

The nut and bolt is as tight as I can get it and still moves when I apply pressure, so when it's windy it's worse..

If I take it apart could I use my old tm2300 pole mount

Any suggestions.

What size dish?

I had similar motor wobble, think I just tightened the bolt as much as possible but there was still some movement in it

I have a 120cm dish completely exposed high up on my flat roof and have accepted wind is always going to be an issue. I fitted some support arms this week to the dish arm hoping it was just the lnb losing it's focus point but it doesn't seem to have made a big difference. Whenever we get 30mph winds I expect to have to go up there and tweak the dish back to optimal alignment even though all the bolts are tight. Never have problems on 28.2 but sky on 0.8w can drop out when the dish is bobbing around

Is the wobble in just the tube, on the (square) axis; or is the wobble in the axis itself?

Edit: You might have to dismantle the motor, to do the further diagnose.
I believe in such sg2100 motors, you can adjust axis wobble/ backlash edit: from the outside of the motor. I'm sure there is something about it on the internet.
Edit2: See here: Backlash Adjustment of Moteck SG-2100

I've never done it on a sg2100 myself, though....

Backlash adjustment won't fix the movement in the elephants trunk. It could be shimmed with a washer though.

I think it's just the tube, however from that backlash thread I see capt jack commented on up/down movement, could be same motor. I'll ask him if he attempted the fix. Was years ago
though

Read this thread loose tube

How can I shimmy with a washer, if that's the fix.

May be on the look out for a new motor, loads of places oos

A shim should be installed just inside the slot where the trunk should go.

If it is up/down movement only then it may be the top bearing has failed inside the gearbox

I will dismantle my old tm2300 to see what to expect, are they all similar?
tbh I have no clue, any pics or what ever to check.

Possibly coincidence, I have lost a lot of orbital slots in the past hour.

Right , got up the ladder tried a few times adjusting but no better , and with the weather only going to get worse , looking for a new motor.

Is there a shortage best I can find is a tm2300 for £60 and has the tm2600 been discontinued
