For those that are used to air-rifle technology, 135 Joules is a shade under 100 ft lbs or eight times the legal limit in the uk.

I used to make my own as a young lad, scotch arrows as we called them. and peg guns as we called them, good old days going down to the woods looking for suitable material :).

Yes, to me a slingshot is a strap or piece of cloth that you hold at two opposing edges with a stone, or whatever, in the centre. You whirl it round your head and then release one of the ends allowing the projectile to fly towards its intended target.

I wonder what that's called in the USA?

Used to be called a sling, the 'shot' appeared only after rubber was invented.
