Dear friends,

I really need your help regarding the excellent Technomate TM-5402 M4 I received two days ago (software version 1.45 Apr 23 2023). It seems to me that there is a software anomaly that prevents watching a previously recorded program while recording another, which is possible without problems with the equally excellent TM-5402 M3. In the specifications of the M4 on the Technomate site it is clearly stated "What's more, you can record up to 2 channels (on the same transponder) whilst watching a file from your USB HDD". With the previous M3 there is no problem doing this and we do this routinely. With the M4, as soon as a recording begins, the "menu" key no longer responds (so the usb key) and therefore you no longer have access to the files already saved, except to stop the recording in progress. I tried, by chance, with the latest Phantom patch 2_TM-5402_M4_17052023_P.bin (thanks manic01 ) but the result is the same.

My friends, I know i'm bad, and please forgive my poor english, but do you know if it is really possible with the M4 to watch a program recorded on an HD disk or an USB stick while another is recording, as it is written in the specifications and as it works perfectly with the M3?

Many, many thanks in advance, have a nice day everyone!

If you are using 3rd party “patches” you’re on your own. If you do contact Technomate support do not mention you are using that patch. In fact I’d reflash the M4 back to factory firmware before continuing. Be very careful what firmware you use. Did you notice your problem before or after you flashed the patch on it.

Here’s the latest official TM M4 firmware dated 18th May 2023 Technomate Support - TM-5402 M4

Thank you very much for your answer. I did not seen that there was a new software change dated yesterday on the Technomate site.

The problem was present when I received the receiver, with the software originally installed by Technomate. Yesterday morning I tried the latest Phatompatch and then I reverted to the original installed version, dated April 23rd of this year.

Just now I downloaded this new "official" version dated yesterday May 18th. I will install it and try it this morning.

Many thanks for your vigilance and your help, Kind regards from France!

If you cannot resolve your problem you could return the M4 to the point of purchase for a refund if you cannot contact Technomate. You could try contacting Technomate support by email outlining your problem if you have not already done so Technical Support

I do not believe that such problem can be caused by the patch.
Those patches add new features to the box without changing basic operations.

I already sent info about this problem to Technomate technical support. I'm waiting for a reply now.

By the way, the new firmware available on the Technomate site is working well but does not resolve the problem.

Thank you!

At least you now have the TM official up to date firmware installed should you need to deal directly with Technomate. It will give them no excuse to dismiss your issue as being down to 3rd party unofficial firmware installation. I’ve seen so many receivers bricked due to incorrect or rogue firmware being installed. Thankfully this forum doesn’t actively promote this activity, at least not publicly anyway.

Our policies on decrypting pay tv services or other encrypted services using anything except a legitimate access method have always been very clear - dont ask because we wont answer! And no keys!

This has helped us stay around long after numerous other sites have been shut down by the authorities..
