I did a factory reset on the box after some channels went missing e.g. BBC FOUR

Now there are no BBC channels appearing in the channel list on ASTRA 2/EUROBIRD - though all the german channels are still present

I've tried "adding TP" by pressing green button on Advanced Search and entering Frequency 10773 and Symbol Rate 23000 then scanning but still no BBC channels appearing

Suffering fools, so you don't have to.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

There should be no German on the 28.2E satellite.

you are receiving Astra 1 on19E instead, and yes, lots of German channels!
so you need to re-align on to 28.2E

Yes you're quite right, I didn't realise that before. Anyway that helped me to understand the problem.

After doing a factory reset (for the first time since a professional installation) I didn't know I also needed to configure the Disecq settings. I ended up with only Astra1 19.2E channels but they were all listed as being on Astra2 28.2E.

Everything is ok now.

Always keep a recent channel list backed up on usb stick, then can easily reload all channels

A blind scan will help you create an up to date channel list which you can save.
