SATELLITE Complaints about the emission of TVE Internacional HD and Canal 24 Horas HD on Hot Bird "There is no sound", say many of our readers By Nowsat - December 26, 2019 19 T
he broadcast in HD of TVE Internacional and Canal 24 Horas channels via the Hot Bird 13B 13º East satellite, is generating a stir among viewers . And it seems that the sound is missing in many of the devices that try to, in addition to capturing the image, reproduce the sound without success. This could be because receiving devices, such as televisions, are not equally equipped when it comes to audio codecs with respect to satellite receivers themselves. But it is also true that many users report having the problem even with these receivers.
Consulting the audio of both channels we can appreciate that it is broadcast in Dolby Digital. And it is here where with high probability the problem may lie, since if the receivers are not prepared with the necessary codec to be able to reproduce this Dolby sound, the result is that there is no sound at all. Even some audio players, like Quicktime itself, are unable to recognize this format.
We have also found that both channels output two stereo audio tracks. But on both tracks there is sound, so the possibility that the receiving device would choose by default the one without audio would also be ruled out. At the moment neither Telefónica, in charge of uploading the signal to the satellite, nor the public entity, RTVE, have spoken on this matter, probably because they do not even know about the problem. At Nowsat we have tested both channels and the result is satisfactory, being able to hear it without any problem.
COMPLAINTS ABOUT IMAGE QUALITY Image quality is another of the highlights in these broadcasts, since although they broadcast with HD resolution of 1920 × 1080, the truth and truth is that at the moment the two channels are no more than a simple rescaling of SD channels. The HD broadcast in the same way has also generated a certain suspicion among the viewers, who do not quite fit that the signal is no longer available on Astra 1 to go on to be broadcast by the position of 13º East of Hot Bird RECEPTION PARAMETERS TVE Internacional HD and 24 hours HD channel can be received on the Hot Bird 13B 13º East satellite, on the frequency 12.303 V SR 27500 FEC 3/4, DVB-S2 / 8PSK CONCLUSION From Nowsat we have the impression that to eradicate the audio problem and that it could be heard With no problem on any receiving device, be it TV, satellite receiver or audio player, Telefónica should choose to use another type of audio, and not Dolby Digital. However, it seems unlikely that they could adopt this measure, since they would pass the ball to the other side, that of the viewer, inviting them to acquire a new receiver "that is not obsolete" in this sense and equipped with the "Dolby Digital" codec.
19 COMMENTS skiner 27 December, 2019 at 10:28 There are many other channels both in hotbird and in other satellites that have digital Dolby and are heard perfectly, the only ones that have problems are those of RTVE, nothing is heard neither in Tve int nor in 24 hours or any of the radios. It is evident that the problem is caused by broadcasting because no audio reaches the receivers and televisions.
pegasus December 30, 2019 at 2:43 PM skiner is right. My Tele can reproduce the sound of all the channels (a few hundred both in Dolby digital and in stereo MPEG) without problem. Only the two TVE channels appear mute. And the RNE radios too. Anonymous 4 January, 2020 at 11:32 The problem will have to be fixed by phone, and under no circumstances will the quality of audio or image worsen, because someone does not see it. That we have been going back years to implement HD, enough of messing around.
Anonymous January 4, 2020 at 6:44 PM Until today, TVE Internacional and Canal 24 Horas do not have audio on the Hotbird satellite. Nowsat January 5, 2020 at 09:37 PM That statement is not true, there is audio. Only some devices do not recognize it
Anonymous January 5, 2020 at 14:04 New technologies are evolving and if they give us better sound with digital dolby do not complain and update our deco that we are in 2021 Anonymous January 8, 2020 at 23: 56 Hello. The same thing happens to me: I don't hear anything. My tv plays the dolby digital sound from all the other channels and I have never had this kind of problem.
skiner January 15, 2020 at 09:33 Something has changed because since this morning you can hear when the last few weeks the channels were without audio. It was indeed a problem of origin not of the receivers, there was no sense that the image was seen perfectly and the sound did not work at all. At least TVe Int and 24 hours are heard
