Since I've put the 1.2 back up I've wanted to try it on C Band but have waited till some clear skies to give myself the best possible chance of reception. Finally managed it this afternoon so here's the preliminary results. I've replicated the LNB setup I used previously but I've yet to try fine tuning it or use a different plate.

49E
The most productive satellite with seven transponders of video.
3793L, 3936L, 3941L, 3950L, 3970L, 3976L and 3982L although a couple are BISS encrypted.

57E
Two transponders, 3632R Chad TV and 3800R encrypted BFBS package.

60E
Four data transponders
1=3754,L,9700,23,16APSK
2=3819,L,7535,23,16APSK
3=3965,R,6000,23,QPSK
4=3970,L,4668,45,16APSK

64.2E
4094L AFN encrypted channels (big signal!)
4102R 32APSK

The only disappointments were not locking anything on either 38 or 66E but I'll try some fine tuning and see if I can improve on this. Pics to follow.

These four from 49°E

hi -
some good results there --

when i tried for 49 east on c band with a channel master 1.2 last year - i could not get any thing from that sat -- i did get chad at 57 though - that was my limit as the fixed mount that i was using would not allow the dish to go any lower - l.o.l

49 east is my C band limit with the 1.8 -- and im losing a large chunk of dish area because of the roof of a building nearby - but i do just manage to get the same transponders that you picked up

regards --

I found an old thread about 49E and saw comments about the lack of success with it so was quite surprised to get so much from this one. Chad is a new one and it's nice to add four new sat locations to the channel line up even if I can't see all of them. On 66E 3894H is about 1dB below lock, pity it's S2.

Of course, it does now leave me wondering how much more I'd get if only the 1.8 could go in the same location!

Game over for a week or so looking at the weather, wet and windy this morning so will leave C on the 1.2 and switch the 1.8 to Ku.

Brilliant! And amazing results on the 49E satellite! It's my personal holy-grail that I haven't managed to pick up yet, due to trees in the way. Hopefully, this will change in the summer.

Thanks for reporting back.

How did you get on with the 3.8M Prodelin, what transponders did you get on C band with that?

Works perfectly, haven't scanned much as the way it is currently all H transponders show as V and vice versa so doing a TP scan from an XML is not possible unless I manually reverse all polarities in the XML so the only way is to manually enter the transponder onto the list with reversed polarity and scan the TP. I will at some point connect it to the manhattan or vantage and do a H/V blind scan.

Unfortunately its only used 5-10times a yr when I need to pick up a certain feed, else its just there, shame for such a beautiful (and £££) dish. Need to use the dish to make it worth its £££.

Its currently connected to a DM500 so I can control it remotely and stream the feed over the net when needed
So if anyone wants to have a play PM me and ill give you the URL for the WebInterface

Kingkad, is it fixed on 68.5E? Have you tried any hard to get Ku band signals on it like Badr-6, Nilesat 201 or 36E Russian beam?

Its fixed on 68.5e but easily moveable except the skew which is a nightmare to change as have to go on a ladder, lower the feed arms and do the skew, then go back up ladder and pull the feedarms back up and refix feed support. might get a friend to make up a servo controlled skew turning rig
Its in the inverted position due to the low elevation of 68.5

There is a Ku LNB on the end too but havent really played with it much

Bit of an understatement LOL If you could polar mount it was sort of arc would you get? You could hire it out to satellite anoraks when not in use :)

Why is it upside down? Is there not enough ground clearance for the dish when it's the "right" way around?

the target sat for the setup was 68.5e and the low elevation meant had to be an inverted setup.
it can probably see 70e to 40w clear.

need to hire it out for hard to get downlinks to recoup £££

Stick a motor on it, I'll supply the receiver and attach some Slingbox type thing to it... and pay you rent? :)

Im trying to motorise it, ive got a plan for the elevation, the azimuth is also quite easy but just need to think of a system, and the skew will be as per my other thread. so then will program an arduino interface to control it all via web and any1 can sit and play with dish and stream feed.

Finally braved the weather to have a bit of a tweak with the LNB and plate. I switched to my older Pride version I still and as well as adjust the feed f/D postion I also tweak the focal point and varied the plate within the throat. Didn't gain any new satellites buteverything previously there is up around 5% and did manage a number of new transponders on 49E including two RHC signals on 3736R and 3752R.

Bring this thread back from the dead to save starting another one. I locked two data transponders on 66°E today using the 1.2m. Nothing to show for it of course apart from the EBS log.
