This is of course referring to FIFA's ideas/dictat on how it should be throughout Europe/world by the 2007/2008 season.

I have to say there are some things I like about the idea, but I can't see that it will be popular with the lower echelon teams.

It would mean that at the end of the coming season, either five would have to go down, with two coming up, or three going down, with none coming up, perhaps even something in between.

Any comments?

Would be interesting in Scotland - 6 would need to go up over the next 2 seasons with no relegation :D

Scuse my ignorance but would a world wide super league not be difficult to implement because of time zone differences and jet lag!

It certainly would be. :)

However that is not what I'm referring to, have changed the thread title to avoid confusion.;)

for 4 more international day's ?

all it mean's is that the top team's will be able to arrange more lucrative freindlies during break's

none of this is relevant anyway as their will be a european superleague within 5/10yrs, this will consist of 3 teams each from the top 6 premiere leagues. the bottom team from each 3 reps of countries will be relegated, to be replaced by that countries prem winners. all other leagues will go part time acting as feeder/nursery clubs..........then in 50yrs the next stage will be international leagues and the world cup will become the global F A cup......
then in 100yrs brazil will be allowed to drop out of global F A cup as they will be representing earth vs mars(ex pats) in a friendly

honest:-Loop

in principle, i would agree with a reduction to 18 teams, but ONLY if the 4 weekends were left empty for players to rest. The international calender is long enough as it is.

and as for a european superleague - will NEVER happen, will any of the big teams want to risk being relegated??? course not, better to remain top of their own domestic leagues, where revenue is certain.

if their relegated they would more likely to be top of their domestic league the year after as 3 top teams would be in europe:-doh!

Why does Blatter want to reduce the size of the leagues? So that FIFA can create more lucrative cup competitions and bring in more money for FIFA, but not the "local" league?

Don't tell me he's doing it for the good of the game, and looking after the players, I'm not falling for that one!

I agree, I also like the idea of the extra two teams playing, as it gives more players the chance to play at the top level and improve their skills, do we really need the premiership to be more elite than it already is?

My objective comment is .....no, we don't. I think it's set just about right and the loss of 2 home match incomes could be quite crucial to the smaller clubs like Reading (:D ).

Subjectively, anything suggested by septic bloater should be viewed with suspicion and ignored.'O'-red

Blatter is scum. Did anyone see the documentary on him the other night? If he manages to slime his way out of those allegations, I'll be amazed.

More transparency, FIFA, and NOW.

This lot have as much to do with football as the recording industry has to do with music. "premier" leagues only arose out of something to with dough and not much to do with football. I used to pay to go and see matches when the players worked hard at their jobs and the price at the turnstyle bore some resemblance to affordability/value for money. England-Scotland-Wales-division one conference league-premier division!!! Stop your car on a Sunday morning when you see a row of parked cars by a playing field and hear a load of abuse being bawled. Hang around for half an hour watching 22 hang overs trying to wade through slurry towards sloping goal posts with no nets. Shake the whole of all countries in the U.K up and make as many divisions with as many clubs as it takes to accommodate every one, create one national team which might stand a chance of winning something. Does anyone care, anyway?

i think the euro-super league is on its way,be great for the fans of the big clubs.the so called top4 are always gonna dominate the prem to get into the champions league.football is no longer about sport, just a cash cow for the big teams.its amazing to read that a team like blackpool can afford to sign players in the 250,000quid price range when their average attendance is only 5000.
