3 channels gone missing on hotbird

There are 3 channels in Spanish that we watch that have gone missing today

Venevision Continental
TV Chile
TV Colombia

They were all located at 11304H v 27500

I just found out through Lyngsat that the same channels are also located on Eutelsat W3A at 7* E.. http://www.lyngsat.com/ew3a.html

I wonder if anyone with a motorised dish, in the UK, is kind enough to have a quick look at Eutelsat and tell me if the channels I mentioned above are still there. I will be ever so grateful!

Since I'm on the subject, can I ask a technical question.

Is there any chance I can watch Hotbird and Eutelsat satellites with an 80 cm dish from the south of England?

They have gone off. Chances are they will be back in a couple of days - Olisat are notorious for dropping the links for various channels for a few days at a time.

No point swinging the dish round to 7E - they have ceased off there too!

I just visited the Olisat website and there is a notice advising people that the channels have been blocked and that they will be air again but codified.

Is this what happened before?

olisat always says they will codify their signal but this hasn't happen yet..... dunno about this occation though..... I guess we will have to sit and wait...

Olisat did scramble their signals for a couple of months a year or so back. Then they suddenly went clear again - I reckon they got hardly any subscribers

I guess it must be expensive to scrumble the signal and perhaps you have to invest in equipment etc. The question they must ask themselves is whether it's worthy to make such an investment or not. I'm new to all this but it's possible that at anytime someone might crack the code and unscramble the signal. So in THEORY they can invest in scrambling one day and having it unscrambled the next day.

I believe Olisat does 6 channels but I could only find 3. You cannot buy one channel but the lot.

A thought, if olysat has any subscribers at the moment, are those subscribers being blocked too?

Not blocked exactly, but the service has ceased - so everybody is affected..

the answer is yes, you should be able to view most of what there is on hotbird. wurzel. :-beer

Cuba is still on 62 West, with Equador on the 43 W slot. I think a Brazilian channel is still up and running on 28 East.

If you want a good chance of continuing with S American TV then invest in a steerable dish

I did write to them but I didn't get anymore information than what's above, they have blocked the channels and they will air the channels again but codified.

are coming back oon and they are coming inscripted in IRDETO 2 - I believe this insceiption is 100% secure, am I right?

Venevion is back clear and so are TV Chile, Colombia, etc, but are encripted.

Since I'm new in the game, I believed Olisat when they told me that they were introducing a new coding system IREDETO 2... good old google helped me to find out that this encoding system has always been used by Olisat and there is nothing new other than they might keep them encripted for good.
