I have been here in Kuwait for 3 years and after 10 different techs and God only knows how many receivers, I decided to get involved and set up my Sat system. I ran quad shield everywhere terminated with Snap'n'seal compressive fittings. I fired up the DM500s using Gemini and they work great and I have a great signal but I can never get my setup right to include all transponders/programming. Hotbird transponders come in no problem; its bader3 and nilesat that are kickin my butt...
I have 3 sats I am trying to receive but only a 8x8 Powered Diseqc multiswitch is avaialble. So I have to figure out how to get my Hotbird / Badr 3 / Nilesat channels (12 lnb's worth of transponders onto 8 inputs) Good news is that Arabic is useless to me as the only thing I understand is goodnight. The English channels are available with only 2 transponders of Nilesat and 2 of Badr 3.
Apparently the English programming is the Orbit Package and THe SHowtime package located on Bader 3 and Niles Sate respectively.
So on the inputs of the Televes Diseqc powered switch I am running all 4 outputs of the HOTBIRD LNB into the first 4 (LNB 0) inputs. That one works fine.
From all I have read, I need Badr3 Low Horizontal and High Horizontal for English (Orbit) Programming. I put those to lnb's into position 5 and 6 on the switch.
I also understand that Nilesat High Horizontal and High Vertical are needed for the English (Showtime) PAckage so I put those two onto position 7 and 8 of the switch.
Then I got to SAT config in the DM500S setup (as displayed in attached pic). Hotbird is easy to config (at least it works as config):
LNB 0
22kh on/off
Voltage H/L
Lnb Parameter A/A (I have no Idea what this does but A/A works)
How would one configure the other LNB's?
I need both Nilesat High Transponders;
I need Badr 3 Low Horz & High Horz;
1. I have no idea regarding settings under "LNB configuration"
2. Is Lyngsat the best resource to determine most current transponder/programming data?
3. Is there an easy way to rid myself of all the non-english and repeat programs (some with a "!" in front of the name)?
Any assistance would be appreciate. Thank you-
Chris
