Pity.

Still, you got two "Likes" for slicing your hand!

You pay a premium price for a premium product and look how it repays you!

My LH 1m was supplied with what the data sheet called a 'dish trim' a thick elastomer O ring which you pushed onto the rim to stop the sharp edge from cutting you. The fact that you would be fiddling with it up a ladder and the sheer weight means that if it slipped in your fingers it could cut you to the bone. I wear thick leather gloves when handling it, just in case.

At least you are getting the measure of the Triax now.

This is not on topic but most of the thread is not anyway. ;)
I spend lots of time sat on the roof of my shed.Trying to get the elevation on my 97 cm triax something like.
I have found that the best way to get it near spot on.
Is to loosen the bolts just enough so that you can slide the dish.Get the best signal that you can.
Now pull the bottom of the dish towards the pole a smiddgin to lower the signal and elevation. Now when you tighten the bolts, the elevation lifts hopefully to to the best signal level.
To someone who does not have a triax that is going to look like a load of nonsense.

Well described - that's exactly what happens. I still get caught out by my perfect alignment being destroyed when tightening up the slider.

And as my own TD110 is on a Patio Mount/Slab, I can fine tune Elevation by hammering plywood wedges under the front (or rear) corners. Works well until they turn to mush!

Might be worth moving the Triax specific stuff to its own thread in the dish setup section - easier for folk to find there...

AS, how's that motor installation coming along? Might be easier to hunt satellites....? You can keep all your tyres as they are still :p

Decided theres no point - any motor here would only cover about 20-30 degrees of arc unless its 8 feet up in the air which makes it far too vulnerable to the wind funnelling down the valley and also far too visible to passers by I only get away with the existing dish as the neighbours dont care about all the metalwork & they are well hidden from the road most of the year

If you have seen the recent photos of the dish farm in location 1 by the hedge I could get 5E -> ~28E (trees in the way west of 5E then the hedge gets in the way past about 28E)

In the secondary location up the garden Id get ~28E -> 57E (trees in the way west of 28E, then the hill in the way out past 57E)

I know I do well with the sats I pull in with the kit but in reality its a rather difficult location and I just have to make the best of what Ive got here

That arc already has quite a lot of satellites, I'd say enough to choose for a motor:
28.5, 30.5, 31.5, 33, 36, 39, 42, 45, 47.5, 52.5, 53. 54.9, 57 East (though some will not make it there with 100 cm I suppose).
Treat your Triax right this time, with just one LNB on its (not-so-sturdy) arm!

Edit: these photo's are over 4 years old, but nothing changed since then, except the LNB is a IBU single now.
Totally unshaded range is 36...66 East, and 26...72 East still acceptable.

Well, you are basically saying they are against the trade description act as they are not remotely fit for purpose. To call that a bracket is beyond taking the p. That means we should all be compensated to the cost of the dish in a big class action.

Shoving bits of wood under it says it all!

:-rofl2 :-rofl2 :-rofl2

Total insanity. Imagine buying a door hinge and being told you had to get some wood splinters and shove them into it to make it work normally. The reply would not be repeatable here.

Many are the times I have tried to adjust that damn bracket when it is over my head and balancing on a ladder. A hinge bracket would have been no problem, a ten second job. Many are the times I have thought what I would like to do with that entire bracket to the triax designer.

:-banned

What really gets me is that the LH 1m weighs a tonne, but the hinge bracket can be adjusted and tightened in ten seconds.

I hope you consider something like an alloy Hi-Gain 1.2m (130x125) to replace it, as an early Christmas present to yourself after the years of torture and relegate the Triax to fixed duties.

Nothing that can't be solved with two motorised dishes.... ;)
