Prolly a couple of transponders on 5W or 20E are you best bet ..
all others are off the table with a dish under 1M ..and even then you would struggle..
Accurately set up a 1M might just pull you a transponder on 40W ..but all else would require you go up to at least 1.2

Evan

The old Russian bird that used to occupy 40E was do-able on an 80cm ..but that was way back ..and at the time was the strongest Cband signal on the UK arc..

Make yourself a chopping board T plate ..
that will increase your chances by giving you an extra 1 to 1.5db

I set up a fixed 1 meter on 40.0w as it can look past a troublesome tree.

That only brings in 7 channels.

40W is well hidden behind shelter belt trees here - no chance of looking at it :(

Result ----> absolutely zip - trying it as on offset on the 1.1m aimed at 46E. However it may be that because of the big feedhorn I couldnt get it in close enough.

Very pleasant sitting in the sun though & I shall have another go one sunny weekend :D

Added a 'Like' to your reply..
Not coz you got zip ..but coz you are going to try again..
tho' tbh I think you will struggle with this bird ..
try 20E and 5W first ..
more chance there I think.

I cant get 5W - trees in the way & the dishes are generally pointing in the wrong directions for 20E.

I had 3 tp off 20E a couple of years ago having dismantled the lnb system off one of the dishes and swung the damn thing round a bit! This is far too much hassle for regular testing though!

Full dish renovations are on the cards in the not too distant future due to a slumping bank that needs attention. A motorised dish may be installed at this point.

hi -
looking at signal strengths using the 1.8 dish, the transponders on 40 east are showing stronger signals in general -- a couple up to 3.0 db more -- than those on 20 east ...... i think you have a good chance of getting something in C band here with a 1 metre dish :-)

Someone asked what the lnb was. Having found the box out of the back of the shed its a

DMS International BSC421 (13K noise level)

It was about 25 quid from a uk shop 3 or 4 years ago.

I was using one of them, I found it to be a good lnb, but was a lot harder to setup compared to the C1-PLL.

I can't wait to get my 1.8m CM up and running for those eastern C band signals.... With any luck, I'll see down to 57E from ground level. Without luck, around 49E. Western view is unobscured, though...
