I think the reason the C-band section is quiet is 2 fold

1) Most people simply do not have room for the huge dishes needed for successful C-band reception.

2) the satellite tv hobby is less popular than it was a few years ago - the number of contributors to forums has fallen off massively over the last 5-10 years. Very few young folk are joining the hobby too.

55 West is also low on the horizon once you start looking East of the UK, most dish installations would require a horizon type motor system to catch this bird on top of the more usual C band satellites.

'ere you go "butchy", a couple of pictures showing a C-Band scan of 55.5W in H and V polarity taken in January this year.
You can use Flysat or Lyngsat to cross reference the frequencies to channel names.

All the frequencies in those two pictures were without a dielectric plate.
You do not need a dielectric plate for 55.5W. All you need is the correct skew on the LNB.
