Hi Folks,

Just installed an Edision Argus Mini over the weekend in the bedroom, picking up Irish DTT channels and FTA sat channels grand. Is there a way to get more than Now/Next info on the Edision's epg? and why do some channels show no now/next info at all?

Cheers,
Mick

Probably not.

Sky & Freesat use their own epg data stream systems to give the full monty. A few receivers can be configured to get additional epg from places like the Radio Times website.

Generic DVB - S receivers are generally specified for "up to 14 days EPG", but in practice what you get is limited to what Broadcasters choose to send. And what they send is generally Now & Next only, if that. Some German Channels carry more though.

The thing is that the data you are getting is sent along with each Channel or Bouquet so bandwidth is limited.

For Platforms such as BSkyB , Freesat etc, an entire Transponder is dedicated to sending reams of EPG Data and the associated Receivers are designed to poll this and populate the Receivers with Channel numbering, Programme info, Series linking etc .etc.

So unless you have third-party means of obtaining the full EPG, you are stuck with Now & Next.

Fortec Star have some jiggery-pokery that can read the full EPG and the Linux (and Media Centre) bods get it via the Interweb thingy.

Thanks the reason i went for it is that it has both DVD T and DVB S tuners so that i can have DTT and Sat channels on the same channel line up - are there 'better' alternatives out there?
