AM radio station list

and how long do these propagation surges last?
If you have a portable FM radio with an analogue dial tuner you can get FM over hundreds of miles when propagation is good. It is easier to tune in on a signal with the dial than by digital tuner because the signal often drifts slightly off the frequency.

The FM signal is often transmitted with crossed X dipoles (mixed polarisation) so try the antenna at 45 degrees as well as vertical and horizontal.

Channels often mention their name on the hour or half hour like "now it is time for the news at three on BBC Three Counties Radio."

I had the most success using battery power, sitting outside in the garden away from the house and its invisible electrical smog cloud. I think plugging into the mains introduced line noise into the analogue tuner.
